LAST WEEKEND FOR THE SUGAR SHACK!

This weekend will be your last chance to stop by and visit the 100-Acre Wood Sugar Shack before it closes for the season!  It has been so wonderful to see so many visitors enjoying and learning about the magic of maple syrup over the course of this past sugaring season! So far this season, we have enjoyed over 1600 visitors masked up and socially distant!  We hope to make this last weekend the best!  Not only can you visit the 100-Acre Wood Sugar Shack but we will also be celebrating Earth Day!   Join us between 11:00 am and 4:00 pm beginning on Earth Day, Thursday, April 22nd through Sunday, April 25th for the festivities!  Children can participate in a Nature Scavenger Hunt while also getting to enjoy a ¾ mile walk on a special Storybook Trail featuring Dr. Seuss’ “The Lorax”! Each participant will receive a 100-Acre Wood Coloring and Activity Book and an Earth Day Goodie Bag!  The Lorax himself will be making special appearances on Thursday, April 22nd and Saturday, April 24th!  There will also be a table w set up with free books for all visitors and of course we will be giving out warm samples of our delicious 100-Acre Wood Maple Syrup. Make sure to stop by the Sugar Shack in the 100-Acre Wood this weekend! Celebrate Earth Day with the Lorax!

Believe in Books Literacy Foundation will be celebrating Earth Day at the 100-Acre Wood Sugar Shack this year with fun activities and special appearances by the Lorax himself!

INTERVALE, NH – Beginning on April 16th, families can celebrate Earth Day with the Believe in Books Literacy Foundation staff and the Lorax in the 100-Acre Wood! Families who visit the 100-Acre Wood Sugar Shack will have the opportunity to participate in fun activities and even possibly meet the one and only Lorax! Believe in Books Literacy Foundation will be hosting a special Earth Day Scavenger Hunt.  Participants can pick up their activity book between 11:00 am and 3:00 pm on April 16th through April 18th and April 22nd through April 25th.  An Earth Day goodie bag will be given to participants who complete the scavenger hunt.  Families will also be able to enjoy a short hike and the story of Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax on a ¾ mile trail in the 100-Acre Wood. Believe in Books Literacy Foundation will also be giving out free books to all visitors at the 100-Acre Wood Sugar Shack!  And of course, it wouldn’t be a true Earth Day celebration without special appearances by the Lorax himself!  The Lorax will be visiting the 100-Acre Wood on Saturday, April 17th, Thursday, April 22nd (Earth Day), and Saturday, April 24th!  Safety protocols will be in place and masks will be required. The mission of Believe in Books Literacy Foundation is to advance healthy development of young minds through literacy programs that encourage early reading, imagination, and physical activity. The Literacy Foundation is a Charitable 501(c)(3) Non-Profit guided by the needs and involvement of the communities of which it serves.

Welcome Back Volunteers!

We are so excited to finally be able to offer a great opportunity once again for our amazing volunteers!  We need helpers at the 100-Acre Wood Sugar Shack on weekends throughout sugaring season.  The days are warm, the nights are cold, the sap is running, and we are excited to accept volunteers back to the Sugar Shack! Volunteers will greet visitors and help maintain the number of people in the Sugar Shack at one time.  Volunteers should come prepared to be outside for a period of time, be willing to engage with guests and should bring snacks, a lunch, and a drink.  We do have safety protocols in place and masks are required.  All volunteers must be at least 15 years old. Volunteers who are high school seniors graduating this May or students currently pursuing higher education and continuing into another academic year are eligible for a BIBLF Scholarship.   Due to limited volunteering opportunities, we encourage students who have volunteered in the past to apply.  Applications are being accepted through May 31st, 2021.  To sign up for volunteering or to learn more about the BIBLF Scholarships, please check out www.believeinbooks.org!

Enjoy the Sweetest Month!

The 100-Acre Wood Sugar Shack is now open for sugaring season!  Stop by the Intervale sugar shack to celebrate Maple Month!

The 100-Acre Wood Sugar Shack is excited to be open and welcome visitors on weekends during the month of March to celebrate Maple Month.  Next week, the sap should be running and sugar makers in the 100-Acre Wood are hopeful for a great season. Visitors to the 100-Acre Wood Sugar Shack will get to enjoy a sample of warm 100-Acre Wood Pure NH-Made Maple Syrup, a variety of maple products available for purchase and a sneak peek of the behind the scenes operation. Families interested in learning the process of making maple syrup can enjoy a self-guided tour through a Maple Storybook Trail right next to the sugar shack.   Due to safety protocols, the sugar shack will welcome one group at time all visitors must wear a face mask.  The 100-Acre Wood Sugar Shack is open on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm every weekend throughout sugaring season. No reservations are accepted.  Groups will be admitted in on a first come, first serve basis.  If visitors are unable to make it on the weekend, 100-Acre Wood Maple Syrup may be purchased at the Believe in Books Literacy Foundation’s office, Mondays through Thursdays.  Visitors to the office must call ahead at 603-356-9980. All net proceeds from the 100-Acre Wood Sugar Shack directly support Believe in Books Literacy Foundation’s literacy programs.  The mission of Believe in Books Literacy Foundation is to advance healthy development of young minds through literacy programs that encourage early reading, imagination, and physical activity. So Many Fun Events Coming Up!

As we take a week off from the Winter Entertainment Series to host the 2020 Mt. Washington Backcountry Ski Festival, we have a lot of events to look forward to before March comes to close. First off, the 100-Acre Wood Sugar Shack is open every Saturday and Sunday to fulfill all of your maple needs.  The Sugar Shack is open 11:00 am to 4:00 pm where visitors can sample warm maple syrup and our famous maple popcorn!  Guests can also take a sneak peek at the behind the scenes operation of how maple syrup is made.  Our self-guided Maple Storybook Trail is also open for visitors to learn the process while enjoying a walk on our beautiful trail system.   Second, the Storybook Character Breakfast Series returns to the Theater in the Wood this month.  Enjoy a warm pancake breakfast with our own 100-Acre Wood Maple Syrup and a storybook reading while getting to meet the actual characters! Join friends like Curious George, Anna and Elsa, Winnie the Pooh, Dr. Seuss’ the Lorax, and many more throughout the seven-week series.  The Storybook Character Breakfast Series begins on Saturday, March 21st and will run every Saturday morning through May 2nd. Doors to the Theater in the Wood open at 9:30 am and the storybook reading will start at 10:00 am.  A donation of $5 per person is suggested. Finally, this month we round out the Winter Entertainment Series with two powerhouse groups.  Gangstagrass, the Brooklyn-based hip-hop/bluegrass project rocks the stage at the Theater in the Wood at 7:00 pm on Saturday, March 21st.  This will be a show no one in the Mt. Washington Valley will want to miss!  At 7:00 pm on Saturday, March 28th, we welcome back the Adam Ezra Group.  Premium tickets are already sold out for this show and we expect the remainder of the tickets to go very quickly so get yours as soon as you can! There is something for everyone in the 100-Acre Wood and we hope to see you soon!
