We had a little family trip to a local farm yesterday and it was so, so fun. It was definitely our most ambitious outing all 4 of us so far and it worked out really well! Venturing outside the house with a 2.5 year old and a 9 week old requires so much patience, especially from the 2.5 year old, while we sit in the car before going into the farm so mommy can feed the baby one more time, for example. Holden is doing great with it though, for the most part.

We picked pumpkins and sunflowers, played on different playgrounds and biiiiig slides, navigated a corn maze, and made sure to snag some apple cider donuts. Good day.

The situation with my MIL continues to devolve and worsen to the point where B and I have decided she’s no longer going to be watching the kids on her own. We’ve given so much benefit of the doubt — maybe too much — and so many chances, and it’s clear that she’s not in a place right now to care for one or both of them. It’s been really stressful to get to this point and the conversation with her that needs to happen now.. I’m pretty sure it’s gonna go terribly.

B is winding things down as far as working on the apartment building. Today is his last day for a while there. I’m glad. Watching both boys on my own has definitely helped give me more confidence as a mom, but not gonna lie, it’s exhausting, even if in a really good way. It’ll be nice to be home all four of us more often.

Now - off to get everyone dressed and ready for a trip to the library, and the playground too, if we can manage it.
