each week until i go to china i’m aiming to learn 10 useful words that i don’t currently know (or i might know the pinyin but not characters, might recognise but not be able to write, etc). at the end of each week i’ll test myself on those 10 words and any from previous weeks.

机场 - airport - jīchǎng

订机票 - book a flight (lit. order air ticket) - dìng jīpiào

招生办 - admissions (at a uni) - zhāoshēngbàn

汇率 - exchange rate - huìlǜ

活期账户 - current account - huóqīzhànghù

签名 - signature / to sign - qiānmíng

预定 - to reserve/book (hotel room etc) - yùdìng

厕所 - toilet (the object) - cèsuǒ

洗手间 - bathroom / toilet (the room) - xǐshǒujiān (also can use 卫生间)

续借 - to renew a borrowed item (e.g. library book) - xùjiè
