Summary: It’s the end of the gala, and for some, it's been a very, very, very long night. Casper looks for answers and enemies, while Micah is just too tired to keep his hands to himself.
The Foldings reviewed in a linup of LGBTAQ indie comics from thoughtbubble, alongside the fantastic @getyourmancomic! (Which has sparkly glitter covers and I totally recommend every part of it.)
They called us “Charming as Balls” and “like you showed the Ewoks the Winchester Mystery House and then asked them to build an aerial Venice.” Quotes I want to sew into pillows and give to people as christmas presents 😄

Kickstarter Update!
Whew— it's been a while since the last update! Backgrounds have been kicking my ass from here to the ninth circle but I'm fighting back and they're slowly giving in:
Who knew mixing three kinds of architecture together and then adding a vertical element would be so tricky? We're getting there, though!
Citizen Spotlight!
One of the pledge tiers had a rather special reward— to become a citizen of Lunule and a background character in the comic! Below are five of our ten stalwart citizens, snapped in the backgrounds as they go about everyday life ;D (Frames fairly drastically cropped to avoid spoilers!)
First up are a two-man team of the DMM— a kind of cross between a lifeguard, a maintenance worker and a city magician, these fine fellows repair and maintain all the tiny little magics that a huge city runs on. And they save unfortunates who might have poked a little too hard at a glowing orb and found it poked right back.
Next we have a Bat Seller, a Bat Purchaser and a Purveyor of Sweet Cakes.
Why does this Citizen need bats so urgently? We're glad you asked. "They're for a new sonar-based navigation technology I'm working on. Very reliable, and keeps the bugs down as well!"
Good work citizens.

Foldings World Design: Building the city.
This week I finished the redline of the first 21 page comic (what you'd call the final sketch phase) and we dropped the words in at last so the whole thing can finally be read start to finish. Whoohoo!
At the start of January I was also able to take a full week to go back to the drawing board and reassess what I wanted Lunule to look like. As you can see from the pages already finished there's a heavy Italian and Victorian influence but still a lot of blockiness, a feeling of skyscrapers and I wanted to see if I could give the place a more patched-together, wonky, not-entirely-possible sort of feel.
So I started looking at tudor housing, Thai stick bridges and large-scale treehouses as examples of pretty epic buildings that look and feel handmade.
The next problem I took a look at was how to stack things so they blot out the sky, without losing the sense of proportion. (Or just taking forever to draw.)
