Third piece for the Hermitcraft tenth anniversary celebration! I don’t like it as much bc the lighting kinda bothers me, but I couldn’t think of anything else to do, so here we are! Also Jellie! She is very gorgeous!

10 years of Hermitcraft: Dress for the occasion

A new season has started and Cleo is more than excited to find out, what outfit the fates have blessed her with. And if she doesn‘t have one or two adjustments to make.

The first thing Cleo noticed was that she was clean. Gone was the heavy, almost suffocating feeling that had become her constant companion in the months she spent in the end.

Or almost gone, her head felt as heavy as ever, maybe even heavier. And there was that hissing sound. It must be because of the change in pressure. She hoped it would subside soon, lest she go completely mad. And nobody wanted that.

Otherwise, she felt completely fine. Her skin didn‘t feel more rotten than before, none of her scars felt as if they were oozing with blood and Cleo couldn‘t wait to see what the universe gave her to wear this time around.

But as she leaned over the newly coined Hermitssippi, her eyes locked on her hair. Or better said, her snakes. Cleo was no expert in snakes, and therefore didn‘t know what the wrist thick, orange-reddish snakes were called, but they were mesmerizing and their blue and green, jewel-like eyes shimmered in the reflection.

That explained the hissing and the added weight.

After admiring her new companions for a little while, cooing at their little movements and already trying her hardest to come up with names for them, she let her gaze wander down towards her dress.

The first thing that came into sight was golden lining along midnight blue fabric. She followed the lining along mirror Cleo’s collarbones, where it was joined by golden chains hanging over the shoulderless sleeves.

She took a step back and took in the entire dress. Her collarbones were adorned with golden pins, holding up an overfolded bodice. Barely visible under her bodice was a belt, equally golden as the pins. The fabric continued on under the belt, flaring out the tiniest bit, falling into small folds reminiscent of a calm night sea.

A chiton, Cleo recognised, the universe was really pushing the medusa thing.

She was however unable to define the type of chiton. It was neither completely doric nor completely ionic. Most of the form was ionic. The sleeves and the fact that it was a sewn garment and not just a cleverly belted and pinned cotton square. However, the overfolded fabric of the bodice and the fastenings on her collarbones were distinctly doric. It was unique, a combination of both types, just as she was the combined product of life and death.

She smiled as she moved a little, feeling the cotton fabric slosh around her ankles, revealing a tiny slip of gold.

Interested, Cleo raised her hemline and glared at the golden sandals revealing themselves. They were shimmering as if made from real gold and if her skirt didn‘t keep getting in the way, she would‘ve knelt down to examine them further.

That was one thing the universe should learn. Floor length gowns, no matter how stunning, weren‘t very practical for day to day life.

But Cleo had the solution at hand and with a few strategic, and definitely not impromptu, cuts with her knife, her dress‘s right side was sporting a new length, now reaching just above her knee. It still looked good. If anything, the cut side only set her chiton further apart from the two classics. Maybe, if she felt like it, she would fix the gold trimming later, or maybe she would just leave it. It rather added to the whole „Medusa“ look.

Cleo started kneeling down, trying to get a better look at her shoes, when a distinctly Joe voice started calling her name.

She sighed as she pulled herself back up and turned to welcome her friend with a smile. The beginnings of seasons were never quiet but Cleo was sure that she would find time to admire her new outfit later.
