The 'Flicker' track will get its live debut on the Nov. 8 awards.
When Niall Horan recruited country star Maren Morris via email for a song on his No. 1 debut solo album Flicker, “Seeing Blind” became an acoustic-based track with an "infectious chorus accented by Morris' vocals," as Horan described it.
Now, the duo will live perform the hit on the 51st Annual CMA stage in Nashville on Nov. 8. “It’s definitely a first for me. When Niall approached me last year about being on “Seeing Blind,” I never saw it exploding the way that it has and getting to debut it on the CMAs,” the 27-year-old confessed.
The country star spoke of how much Niall’s excitement to perform meant to her: “He and I were texting yesterday and we both were just freaking out,” a fairly unexpected and surprising reaction, since Niall is Irish and comes from the pop world. “It was really cool for me to hear that side from him, because I know he’s a fan of country music, but for him to really show props and understand how much of an honor it is to play on that stage was so refreshing to me,” Morris told Billboard Style. “He’s a huge fan of this genre, and he completely gets the weight of getting to debut this song on the CMA stage.”
Just days before the nationally televised awards show, the collaborators are fine-tuning the creative direction of their presentation as they gear up for Country Music’s Biggest Night. “We’re just making sure it’s a really memorable performance, and it’s going to be,” the “Dear Hate" singer said. “I cannot wait and neither can he.”
The Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley-hosted event will also include performances from Tim McGraw, Luke Bryan, Faith Hill, P!nk, Garth Brooks, Keith Urban, Kelsea Ballerini and Reba McEntire. The CMA Awards broadcast live on ABC on Nov. 8 at 8 p.m. ET.
Sometimes people are selfish and they want a piece of your soul because you have an attractive and healing auora. Everyone wants a piece, but nobody wants to work for it or put in the effort for it. It's easy to say you want things in life, but there's a difference between people who want things and those who go get them. There comes a time where you need to stop breaking off pieces of your spirit for those who don't appreciate you and are committed to mistreating you. Everyone has their limits.
