“af stands for audio frequency. It’s range of frequency human can hear. We react, live, and remember only the frequency within that range. Try to pay attention on things we don’t generally look into. We are living in a world where everything’s divided into ranks from A to F. I named the album [that] since I wanted to be more free.”

“ ‘a fence’ is...we always put a line and lock ourselves, even when we can see the outside of the fence. Let’s not lock ourselves, because I was locked in and it was so hard. So I wanted to give [a] message referring myself. ‘Fence’ includes those meanings.”

“At that time, desperation? I wanted to show what kind of person I am. I had antagonism towards all the people except me. After knowing the world is better than I thought. [I] went towards more self-examination. Doing that, another year passed by. I just spent this year looking at myself.”

“If you’re asking whether I am anxious or not, yes I am anxious. But now I think feeling anxious means I am doing well. What I thought about the most in ‘af’ is ‘which Woo Won-jae’ should I show. There is techno, there is real hip-hop. I worked on this outside of ‘the fence’ so I had many thoughts about it and also felt scared.”

“If it feels like ‘wow, it’s [a] total bluff, this kind of person is doing this kind of rap’ that person is writing good lyrics. I don’t [necessarily] think using difficult expressions or amazing words make good lyrics. Giving the emotion that person wants to give is [the] most important thing.”
SUCCESS
“What I think having success is, [it’s] having influence. I don’t want to have influence by hurting myself. I want to have influence, only on people who are ready to listen and trust me. I want people to listen for [a] very long time, like infusing the tea...”
