The Highway to Success

I got a cold thumb on the side of the highway to success.

Here at least I’ve got soup and a place to put my head when I’m not using it.

... I only wish I used it more.

I went to the river and cried today. I can't even think. I can't breathe. I can't hope. It's like the air in the country has changed. Its like everything's turning, and I'm not optimistic. It's something I can't name. It's something that radicalizes the complacent. It radicalizes me. I could barely think at the river today. I don't know my face. I'm so tired it's scaring my family. I don't have a name for this white hot numbness. I don't have a face for it. I've never felt this before so I can't mask it. The river did not have answers today only questions. I could feel my ancestors churning, tumbling, screaming there. They are usually so peaceful, but there is no clear sound. There is no peace in the water. I tried humming about healing water, but the river had no answers for me. It had no baptisms in its folds. It is all so hollow. It is all just screams.
