this might be too vague? i know it is a small part of a larger story. Eddie accidentally trips Steve,who was ending his high school career basically without anybody to hang out with. before Eddie can apologize his friends start cheering him on and patting his back so everyone thinks he did it on purpose,so he rolled with it.
Steve knew him as a bully and didn't want Dustin hanging around him, and was jealous when he did anyway (as jealous as he was on the show). they walk in the woods in s4 and Eddie is all apologetic about tripping him and Steve says he thought it was an accident too until his friends started laughing
