I apologies for the untimely updates! I will try to maintain a reliable schedule in the future.

Now, the recap of last Wednesday's (11-18-15) philosophy club:

We planned to speak about intersectionality, and the importance of acknowledging it when discussing systems of oppression. Manar and Eden lead this discussion; introducing the topic by talking about the Paris attacks, or rather the world's reaction to them. The world had turned red, white, and blue in overwhelming support:

but while this is well deserved attention, why is it that when violence happens every day in war torn countries, where lives are lost brutally and cities are destroyed, those tragedies are never honored with such enthusiasm as this one.

We discussed:

What makes a first world country a first world country?

Western Imperialism and how it has contributed to the state of many war torn countries and developing nations today

The way these event are often framed by the media:

We watched this video while discussing how stereotypes perpetuate islamophobia

Club pretty much ended after this, I hope you all have a good thanksgiving, or a good long weekend if you don't celebrate it!

Fatal accident on 126 near Hobson

12-3-15

A bad head-on collision accident on 126 & Hobson near Santa Paula early this afternoon left vehicles severely damaged. Multiple vehicles involved 1 fatality with 4 moderate injuries. Fillmore, Santa Paula, and Ventura City Fire all responded.We’re waiting for further word on the injured passengers. We hear only one injury was significant.

I had the best dream last night.

I fell asleep wanting cuddles more than anything, thinking about someone who I've liked for a long time, and in my dream we cuddled and shared the best hug in my memory. Wonderful.
