Master List of all my drabbles for the 12 Days of Femslash Christmas, Teen Wolf-style (2015).
Day 1 (Dec.13th): New Traditions
Malira (Kira Yukimura/Malia Tate) - It’s hard celebrating the Season in a new city, but having a friend by your side goes a long way.
Day 2 (Dec. 14th): Unconventional Christmas
Tracy Stewart/Lydia Martin - After a terrible year, Tracy and Lydia decide it’s easier to just forego the party.
Day 3 (Dec.15th): Snowed In
Dep. Clarke/Braeden - A yeti-induced snow storm leads to a long weekend and what should be lazy morning cuddling. Unfortunately, Deputy Clarke has to play the hero.
Day 4 (Dec.16th): Santa’s Little Helper
Malira (Kira Yukimura/Malia Tate) - The Mall Santa AU that doesn’t actually feature a jolly man in a red suit. (Human!AU, meet-cute)
Day 5 (Dec.17th): Fruit Cake
Malira (Kira Yukimura/Malia Tate) - Malia hated fruit cake. It failed as both fruit and cake. So it was with dawning horror and an awful sense of deja vu that Malia watched Kira pull out a bright red box from the local grocery store.
Day 6 (Dec.18th): Away For Christmas
Allydia (Allison Argent/Lydia Martin) - Lydia makes a call.
Day 7 (Dec.19th): Season of Giving
Malira (Kira Yukimura/Malia Tate) - Working at the local soup kitchen is hard.
Day 8 (Dec.20th): Baby, It’s Cold Outside
Malira (Kira Yukimura/Malia Tate) - Some things need to be sung, but that’s okay. Lydia probably got everything on video.
Day 9 (Dec.21st): A White Christmas
Malira (Kira Yukimura/Malia Tate) - One woman’s snow flurry is another woman’s snow storm. All Malia wanted to do was make sure Kira got through the day with all her toes.
Day 10 (Dec.22nd): Mistletoe
Malira (Kira Yukimura/Malia Tate) - Kira wished she could blame everything on that ridiculous hat, the silly one with dangling mistletoe and jingly bells, and not the fact that Malia was going around kissing everyone but her.
Day 11 (Dec.23rd): Secret Santa
Malira (Kira Yukimura/Malia Tate) - Malia’s Secret Santa goes by the name Mr. Turtle. He’s too flat and too turtle for the presents she wants to give this season.
Day 12 (Dec.24th): The Scrooge Grinch
Malira (Kira Yukimura/Malia Tate) - There was a whole lot of green on Kira’s floor. (Older!Malira, kid!fic).
(Belatedly) Written for the 12 Days of Teen Wolf Femslash Celebration
Day 11 (Dec.23rd): Secret Santa
Malira (Kira Yukimura/Malia Tate) - Malia’s Secret Santa goes by the name Mr. Turtle. He’s too flat and too turtle for the presents she wants to give this season.
There was nothing wrong with her lock, or the paint on her locker, or its hinges, but Malia knew that someone had broken into her locker just the same. Just like she knew that someone had been breaking into her locker since the very first day of the month. It was either that, or the little chocolate bar sitting on top of her math textbook had appeared out of thin air. Malia seriously doubted it. There was no way air could draw the cartoon turtle that came with the post-it on it, or Mr. Turtle's Santa hat. She didn't name the doodle. His name was scribbled right on his shell, the same way it had been ever since the gifts started showing up. Today, Mr. Turtle said: "Good luck on your driving test! I beLEAF in you!"
Mr. Turtle was sitting on a leaf, and just like she'd treated all of Mr. Turtle's previous incarnations, Malia tucked the latest post it into her notebook. Every day, Mr. Turtle carried her a new message.
"Don't stress your math quiz! I'm sure you'll do great. :)"
"Happy holidays, I hope you like gingerbread!"
"It's green bean casserole in the cafeteria again :( Hope this sweetens things."
Malia enjoyed each and every one of the messages, more than most people would have thought, and she'd gotten steadily more protective over Mr. Turtle's presents. Stiles learned the hard way that there were few crimes worse than trying to swipe chocolate out of the coyote's hands. But as much as she enjoyed her mysterious turtle admirer, Malia was a lot more interested in meeting them. Her progress had been slow. She'd found out from Scott (whose expertise on the subject shouldn't have surprised anyone) that just about anyone could break into a locker at Beacon Hills High, supernatural strength or no.
She took a contemplative bite of today's gift, as she browsed through her collection of notes. It was milk chocolate with hazelnuts, her favorite. She wanted to meet her Secret Santa. One-sided gift giving was not how that game worked, and Malia was flattered. A lot flattered.
"What do you call an elf who sings? A wrapper!"
"You'll do great today!"
"All I want for Christmas is EWE!" Mr. Turtle was accompanied by a (Miss?) Sheep for that one.
Christmas break was a day away, and she was running out of options. There was only one solution Malia could see. It was stake out time.
"Stake out time? Really?" Lydia asked, and if her tone got any drier, her mouth would shrivel up.
At least Kira attempted to be more polite about it. "Don't you think that's a little... extreme?"
"You should go at around two. That's the best time to break in, right after the cops make their round through the parking lot." Stiles said in the tone of a man who has seen everything twice. Scott elbowed him in the ribs, before adding, "Are you sure you want to be alone at night? In this school?"
Case in point, the police had the school on their patrol route.
"How else am I going to smoke them out?" Malia scoffed. "As cute this is, the secret part gets boring quickly. I can't make out with a turtle."
"Can't be much different than doing it with Stiles." Scott muttered under his breath.
"Hey!"
Malia cracked a smile. She almost didn't notice when Kira brushed her hand against hers under the table. In a soft murmur, just for Malia to hear, she offered, "I could come with you? Two sets of eyes are better than one."
Malia took her hand and squeezed it tight. "I could use the help."
--
The stake out was a bust. Malia fell asleep about an hour in, and Kira fussed all night about waking her up because it would be "really impolite!" Malia grumped, but she couldn't keep it up for long, when Kira's Letterman jacket was draped across her like a blanket. "I'm sorry, you looked tired," Kira fretted, as Malia snuggled closer, not as annoyed as she'd like to be. "And no one else showed up? You didn't miss much."
Malia flopped until she got her head on the kitsune's lap, letting out a tired sigh. "I just don't know why they're going through all this trouble when they could just tell me they like me."
Kira tensed, but only for a moment, then her fingers found Malia's hair. "Maybe they think you like the presents?"
Malia snorted.
When Kira spoke, it was so softly, Malia almost didn't hear her. "It's not always that easy. It's... Hard to know that someone you really want to impress doesn't like you."
"Well, they'll never know if they don't tell me." The coyote huffed, but she quieted when Kira scratched across her skull. Malia couldn't help the defensiveness that crept into her tone. "This isn't just some kinda joke to them."
"No, Malia... It's not."
Malia admitted that spending nights in a school classroom wouldn't be so bad, if they could all end like this. But by lunch time, Mr. Turtle had returned. This time, he wore a frowny face, but what he said made Malia smirk.
"I'll be by the bleachers after school if you want to meet? :'o "
Lunch couldn't come fast enough on a good day. Now Malia wondered why she had to go through classes at all. Concentrating on any of her lessons was next to impossible. She was excited despite herself, giddy even. Mr. Turtle's messages kept playing through her head.
"Congrats on beating that obstacle course! I'm so proud of you!"
"You left your jacket at Math. Hope it's OK I returned it."
"What's red, white and blue at Christmas? A sad candy cane! (Here's a happy one :D)"
Malia knew it had to be someone close, someone who knew her. Or someone who really wanted to give it a try. She was a little worried. The whole secretly supernatural thing was a mess, and maybe her Secret Santa would have to be filled in, or maybe not, she didn't know. Malia let her mind wander with excitement she was too embarrassed to admit to. She ran out of class the moment the bell rang, but of all the things she expected to feel when meeting her Santa, anger wasn't one of them.
"YOU!"
Trying valiantly not to hide behind the bleacher's stand, Kira winced mid-wave, her face scrunched up in worry. "Me?"
"You!" Kira never had the chance to run. Malia stormed up to her, and pulled her into such an enthusiastic hug, Kira almost fell over. "We could have spent all this time making out!"
Kira blushed beet-red, all the way to the tips of her ears, and Malia immediately wanted to make her do that again. “Wait, but - but is this okay? I mean? You... Like me?”
“This is where I get to show you how much, right?” Malia leaned closer, bumping their nose together, until she could feel the kitsune’s tentative smile against her own, quietly thrilled by how well the other girl fit against her. She felt when Kira gasped, and preened when she wrapped her arms around her waist.
"I’m really sorry I broke into your locker.” Kira whispered nervously. Malia had already forgiven her. “But you mentioned something about kissing?”
Mr. Turtle was all well and good, but Malia was only too eager to show her how to give a real present.
Allison has been ice skating since she was a kid. When she was eight, her parents paid for classes because figure skating was something that ran in the family. That, and hunting.
She wasn’t extraordinary good at it. She never won any competitions or got any medals. But she had fun, and her dad always told her that was the most important.
Lydia, on the other hand, was good at ice skating like she was at everything. She, too, started doing it at a very young age, together with her sister. Competitive as she was, she wanted to be better than everyone in her class. And when she reached that goal, she wanted to be better than her sister, even though she was ten years older and a lot taller.
Being Lydia Martin, of course she also succeeded in that goal.
Though they were both basically raised on the ice, they had never actually skated on natural ice. They’d always stayed on the rink, where you knew the ice was thick enough to carry you and where it was easy to get on and off it.
So as they’re sneaking through the silent woods, their fingers intertwined and their smiles laced with a bit of fear, the excitement buzzes in the air between them.
“Okay, so I totally get why you wanted to go ice skating on a real frozen lake, but tell me again why we had to do it at night?” Lydia asks as she readjusts the laces of her skates on her shoulder.
Allison looks over her shoulder, a big smile plastered on her face. Her eyes are as dark as the night.
“Because everything is more fun at night.”
Lydia doesn’t have anything to say to that – Allison has a good point – and follows her girlfriend without asking any more questions.
Allison had stumbled upon the lake while doing one of her morning runs. Even when they were on vacation, even when it was freezing, the huntress took off to run every freaking morning. Lydia doesn’t know how she does it and when Allison teasingly asks if she wants to join every morning, the strawberry blonde usually throws a pillow into her general direction and turns away from her.
But when Allison had invited her to come ice skating with her at night, Lydia didn’t have to think twice about it. She knows how competitive Allison can get, and she loves a good challenge. Needless to say the frustrated sex after one of them loses is also pretty great.
They stumble through the night, occasionally ungracefully tripping over some roots or snow, and Lydia is about to make a remark on how cold she is and if Allison really knows the way when the trees part and they almost walk onto the lake.
“Told you I’d find it,” Allison proudly grins. Lydia squints at her before dropping down on her butt to put on her skates.
Allison follows her example and pulls her skates from her shoulders.
“Remember that time we went ice skating with Scott and Stiles,” she recalls.
Lydia makes a face at her.
“Yeah, I remember. The night I saw Peter underneath the surface of the rink. Fun times.”
Allison nudges her shoulder.
“Come on, Lydia. Cheer up.”
Lydia shakes herself, as if she tries to shake off the memory.
“You’re right. He’s dead now – for real this time. I’m better now.”
“I know.” The huntress kisses her on the cheek, then pulls her up.
“Come on, let’s go have some fun.”
Ice skating when you’re both semi-professional skaters isn’t as romantic as it could be, especially if you’re both really competitive.
What was supposed to be a relaxed night out with kisses in the moonlight and skating hand in hand turns out to be drawing finish lines on the ice and giving each other points on figure skating. Allison ends up crossing the finish faster, but Lydia is better at figure skating. Allison thinks this means they’re both winners, but Lydia won’t settle with that.
The shorter girl cocks a bow at her girlfriend and smirks.
“Allison, you won’t get far in life if you think everyone’s a winner. The truth is, everyone is a loser except the winner.”
“Thanks, captain Obvious.”
Lydia rolls her eyes at her.
“What I mean, princess Naïve, is that I’m not leaving this lake before there’s one winner and one loser.”
“You mean you won’t leave this lake before you’re the winner and I’m the loser,” Allison says.
Lydia smiles at her.
“You get me.”
Allison sighs, rolls her shoulders and skates away from Lydia.
“Well then, better get started if we wanna be back before dawn.”
They actually end up skating till dawn. Allison almost falls asleep standing up, her limbs heavy and her eyelids even more so, but Lydia goes hard till the end. She skates like her life depends on it; twirling and twisting and jumping. Allison keeps up with her until 4am, but then she just falls back and skates in tiny circles until the sky turns purple.
“Lydia,” she finally says.
“Let’s go home now.”
Lydia looks up as if she had been in trance the past couple of hours and glances at her girlfriend.
“Did I win?”
Allison sighs, skates over to her and takes her hand.
“Yes, you won. Now can we please go back to the lodge and get into bed? I’m exhausted.”
Lydia smugly grins up to her and follows her off the lake.
“Told you I’d win,” she says as they take off their skates and replace them with their boots.
Allison glares at her.
“Don’t be angry, Ally,” Lydia giggles.
“I’m just a better skater than you. That’s not the end of the world, is it?”
Allison bites her lip, tugs at her laces.
“No, it’s not,” she says curtly.
They don’t hold hands as they walk back to the lodge. Lydia is too full of arrogant pride and Allison is too much of a sore loser to give in.
But like Lydia said: frustrated sex after one of them loses is pretty great as well.

Summary:
“We’re stuck.” Kate stated plainly.
“Oh, for fuck’s sake.” Laura groaned loudly in exasperation.

“Oh, for fuck’s sake.” Laura breathed under her breath as the straight haired blonde woman stepped into the elevator. She gave the brunette a pointed look, then turned on her heel and pressed the lobby button. Laura looked up at the ceiling, counting down the seconds until the doors would open and she’d be free from the small hell she’d now been trapped in.
But then the elevator stopped suddenly, jerked the two women forward. Laura stumbled into Kate, who bumped up against the doors. Once she regained her balance, she stepped back, only for the elevator to lurch again and for Kate to be propelled backwards onto the other woman, who in turn fell on her ass with the blonde landing on her lap.
Kate quickly scrambled to her feet. “Last time I checked you liked sitting on my lap.” Laura sneered. Kate ignored her, pressed the buttons on the control panel. Nothing happened; the elevator stayed in place.
“We’re stuck.” Kate stated plainly.
“Oh, for fuck’s sake.” Laura repeated, louder and with exasperation. She stayed seated on the floor, crossing her legs and taking her phone out. “No service.” She muttered, shoving the useless device back in her purse.
Kate grabbed the emergency telephone under the control panel, dialed a few buttons, and waited. She began tapping her foot and placed on hand on her hip as she waited, which earned a scoff from the other woman. Always like her. So impatient. Laura thought, her inner voice just as annoyed as her outer expression was.
“Uh, yes, hello, two people are stuck on elevator four. Uh-huh. Well how long will that take? You’ve got to be fucking kidding me. Yes, I know it’s Christmas Eve, that’s the point. I have a party to go to. Do you have any idea who I am? I could—“ She took the phone away from her ear, gave it a bewildered look, then slammed it back down on the receiver. “He hung up on me!” She exclaimed and then slid down on the opposite end of the elevator. Not that it did any good; the thing was small, so the two women were merely inches apart much to their dismay.
“Hard to believe anyone would ever hang up on you.” Laura grumbled with a heavy roll of her eyes.
Kate resisted giving her the middle finger. “He said it’s going to be at least three hours before they get us out.”
Laura eyed her watch and her eyes grew wide slightly. “Goddamn it. Marin is going to kill me for being late.”
“You’re going to her party, too?” The blonde asked wearily.
“Well Marin is my best friend, so, obviously.” She replied a little childishly.
Kate rolled her eyes, bit her tongue. “She’s my best friend, too.” She said through a tight jaw.
“Hard to believe you have any friends.” Laura bit back.
“You used to be my friend.” Kate said lowly. “Girlfriend, remember?”
Laura nodded, then stated, “Yeah, before you fucked it all up.”
“I did not fuck it up!” Kate finally exploded, her voice resonating through the elevator.
“Yes you did!”
“We—we agreed that when we got into this relationship that we would separate the job from our home lives. We agreed to that.” She said more calmly, her tone turning from furious to regretful.
Laura looked away from her, knew that if she looked at those big brown eyes that she’d start crying. “Yeah, well,” She swallowed the lump in her throat. “That was before you sent a child away to prison.”
“For murder.” The blonde said harshly.
“She was part of a cult! She didn’t know what she was doing!” Laura shrieked. And it was true; a month ago she was taking down a huge cult on the outskirts of the city. They’d brainwashed children, taught them that if they didn’t follow their corrupt bible that they would all rot in hell for eternity. Through all the brainwashing they convinced the kids that all who did not obey needed to be punished, that they were sacrificing them to God, that their souls would be cleansed and they could finally find their way to Paradise.
After everything was done and the leaders were put on trail, one kid, the oldest, Violet, was put on trail, too, because she was a co-leader. The poor kid was only thirteen, but she’d killed five people. Laura fought for her, knew that it wasn’t her fault; the woman had seen murderers, sat in rooms with them, had conversations with them, so she knew what they looked like, and when she talked to Violet and stared into her eyes she didn’t see a murderer; she saw a frightened, broken, confused child that needed help. But Kate wouldn’t have that—she somehow managed to trail her as an adult—Kate was the second best prosecutor in New York, so that came to no surprise—and Violet got a life sentence.
Laura wouldn’t forgive her and it broke their relationship.
Kate looked away from her, breathed out deeply. “I know.” She said in a small voice.
Laura perked her head up. “What?” She questioned.
The blonde looked at her then, her eyes gentle. “I know.” She repeated, voice stronger. “I know. You were right. I…I had a meeting today…they’re transferring Violet to a children’s mental institution next month. If she’s able to reform and show progress then she’ll be released when she’s eighteen.”
Laura’s heart fluttered, all negative thoughts of her ex completely disappearing from her mind. “Really?” She asked with a small smile.
Kate nodded. “But only if she’s able to show that she can function in society. If not then when she’s eighteen she’ll be transferred to an adult asylum for the criminally insane. After that I will have no control.”
Laura nodded in understanding. She hoped Violet would be okay, that she’d be able to tell what’s real and what’s made up. That she would be able to unravel all the horrible things that were implanted in her mind so that she could lead a normal life. “Why’d you do it?” She asked.
Kate shrugged. “After the sentencing, and the fight with you, I just started thinking…she deserved a chance. She’s just a kid; she still has a life to live. You told me she didn’t have a choice and you were right. I didn’t want to listen, but you were right. So I just…wanted to give her a second chance.”
“Aw, you do have a heart.” The brunette teased.
Kate narrowed her eyes playfully. “Anyway…”
Laura sighed. “I’m sorry I let the case break us up.”
“I’m sorry I’m so far up my own ass I can’t stop and think about losing a case for one second.”
Laura grinned. “Apology accepted.”
Kate was quite for a few seconds, studying the woman calculatively.
“What does this mean?” They both asked at the same time, then gave two very nervous laughs.
“I don’t…we can try. Do you want to try?” Laura asked hopefully.
Kate gave a small nod. “Yeah, let’s try.”
They still had problems to work through and things to sort out, but everyone deserved second chances. It was the Season for Second Chances, after all.

Day 12 (Dec.24th): The Scrooge The Grinch
Malira (Kira Yukimura/Malia Tate) - There was a whole lot of green on Kira’s floor. (Older!Malira, kid!fic).
Malia didn’t walk through the front door, she exploded through it. Hair in disarray, chest heaving with effort as if she’d ran across the entire town to burst into Kira’s home and stare at her. Kira stared right back, with her mouth hanging open, a shuriken in one hand, a bottle of sequins in the other, and a face that was slowly, steadily turning an interesting shade of mauve. She only belatedly put the weapon away.
“Um?”
“What are you doing here?” Malia demanded, like Kira had anywhere else to be on a Friday night. She had the nerve to sound annoyed.
“I live here?” Kira sounded like she wasn’t entirely sure anymore, but it didn’t matter. Malia crossed the room in three steps, and pulled her into an unapologetic bear hug. The kitsune couldn’t even worry that she’d forgotten to close the door behind her because this was exactly what she needed. All too eager as Malia wrapped herself around her, shamelessly scenting her like they were still eighteen and had no idea what they were doing. “Next time knock, okay. What’s wrong?”
“You weren’t answering your phone.” Kira let out a scandalized noise, meaning to make a stronger case about her poor door, when Malia added, “You always answer your phone. I called three times, and then it said it was off. I thought something happened.”
“I, well, I’m sorry. My phone’s around here somewhere, I guess I just…” Kira pulled away, but snuggled back in the moment Malia let out a protesting growl. They dug her phone out from under a pile of green felt. It was as dead as a doorknob.
“Oh.”
“Yeah, oh,” Malia sniffed. She looked like she wanted to give a lecture on the importance of communication and emergencies, but Stiles that so much better because he was so much easier to ignore. She tucked her chin over Kira’s shoulder, examining what looked like a green Wookiee exploded. “What’s going on here?”
Kira let out a gut-wrenching groan, wiggling out of her girlfriend’s grip and only kept from throwing herself on the ground because her neighbor’s voices were getting too loud, and she needed to close the front door before she got another raccoon in her home. The kitsune dragged her feet the whole way before plopping herself in front of the coffee table. Malia would call that spot ground zero.
“Aiko got a part in her school play as the Grinch.”
Malia thought Kira sounded about as chipper as that time she read about that lonely whale. “I remember. I fed her a pint of pistachio ice cream when we found out.”
It was easy to convince Kira’s adopted kitsune of a daughter that she needed all the help she could get to achieve the Grinch’s specific shade. Kira groaned, scrubbing her hands over her face. “Well I had her costume fixed weeks ago, and I just wanted to iron it for tomorrow, but I left the iron on for too long, and this has never happened to me. Never, and there was this giant hole through it, and now? Now I have… fourteen more hours to fix her a new one or she’s going to have do her song and dance in her underpants.”
Malia was the worst. She burst out laughing.
Kira groaned even harder, except she was smiling. “It’s not funny! It’s so not funny! She’s been practicing every day since she got the part. I know all the lyrics to Mr. Grinch, and I just…“
Malia sat down beside her, pulling her in so she could comb her fingers through her hair, before pulling off her ponytail and redoing it properly. “You have glue on your chin.”
Kira swiped at it unhappily, but didn’t protest at being pampered. “You are the worst.”
“Yeah, but I love you.”
The kitsune had to duck her head, breaking out in a beatific smile that left her embarrassed, and Malia realized there was a felt star glued to her elbow.
“Where is Aiko?” She asked, plucking it off of Kira, but smearing the front of her shirt with the glitter that clung to it.
“Fast asleep in her room. She clonked out a while ago, and it was… Probably a good thing. She’s not very good with a glue gun.”
“Mhmm, good. Because I’m going to help you make a radioactive Chewby costume.” “Chewie.” “Whatever. And then when we’re done, we’re going to make out on this couch until you fall asleep. Sound like a plan?”
Kira flushed to the tips of her ears, but she slung an arm around Malia’s shoulders and dragged her closer, their noses bumping as she rested their foreheads together. “What about if we make out first?”
Day 11

Summary:
Pissing off a witch wasn’t the best idea. But Malia never claimed to have great ideas.
read on ao3
this ended quickly bc i lost interest. oops.
“Holy…shit…” The young woman breathed in disbelief. She was on her knees in the snow, looking around at the now completely vacant town with wide eyes and a slack jaw. Vacant as in no breathing people. No breathing people as in they were all…gingerbread.
She fucked up.
Malia completely fucked up.
And she didn’t know how to fix it this time. She didn’t know what the fuck she was supposed to do.
The witch had gotten away after their failed ambush, but not before speaking in Latin and cursing the town. Malia and her friends had no idea what she was saying until she had vanished; for some reason unbeknownst to them, she cursed the town to turn into gingerbread and candy. It reminded Malia of that one fairy tale about the witch in the woods with the house made of candy. Why anyone would want to turn a town into sweets was beyond her, but it happened and now she had no idea how to fucking fix it.
The woman stood and dusted the sugar—what the fuck, sugar? What the fuck… A million things raced through her head, mostly cuss words and ideas on how to rip the witches throat out if and when she caught her.
She began walking around slowly, looking into every window of every shop and waving her hand in front of every person—gingerbread person. They had turned into 3D cookie people, along with the cars and street signs and buildings—everything was edible now, and it terrified her. It was like some messed up horror movie and she figured that if she cut one in half they would bleed red icing—not that she would do that. She was a predator but she wasn’t a murderer (of innocent people).
“Hello?” She heard a female voice call out from a few feet away. Malia’s ears twitched as she zeroed in on the voice when they spoke again. “Anyone still…human?”
“Erica,” She mumbled, her eyes growing wide with relief. “Erica!” She repeated louder and then began running towards her girlfriend. She rounded the corner and saw the curly haired blonde standing in a puddle of chocolate, looking equal parts dumbfounded and wanderlust. Malia approached her in run and rammed into her full force, wrapping her arms around her and hugging her tightly. “Thank god you’re okay.” She sighed in relief.
Erica automatically wrapped her arms around her girlfriend, giving her a squeeze. “What the hell happened?” She asked once they pulled apart.
Malia’s cheeks burned slightly and she looked away, rubbing the back of her head sheepishly. “The, uh, plan didn’t work.”
“Yeah, no shit.” Erica mumbled, gesturing to the candy street.
“Malia!” Both girls turned to see Allison and Kira running up to them.
“Hey, you guys are—what the hell!” Malia shrieked as Allison bypassed her hug and smacked her on the back of the head, hard. The short haired woman narrowed her eyes at her friend and growled a little. “What was that for?” She demanded with barred teeth.
Allison crossed her arms, mimicked Malia’s glare. “For coming up with this stupid plan.”
Malia opened her mouth to object but closed it and slumped her shoulders. “Yeah, I know.” She agreed quietly. “But I never said I came up with good plans!” She added, her voice rising.
Kira rolled her eyes, interjected before the arguing could continue. “What’s done is done. Now we just need to figure out how to reverse this…curse.” Kira looked at their surroundings, cringing at the sight of a bird pecking away at a gingerbread woman’s gumdrop ear.
“We just have to find the witch and get her to break the curse.” Allison said smartly. The three girls looked at her, their eyebrows raised. Her cheeks flushed and she adverted her eyes with a little shrug. “What? I watch Charmed…” She trailed off, twirling a piece of her short hair around a long finger.
“Right,” Erica drew the word out.
“How are we supposed to find her?” Kira questioned, her tone a bit more than hopeless.
Allison looked straight ahead and nodded her head in that direction. “Follow the cookie crumbs?” She guessed. The other girls followed her gaze, then looked at each other and shrugged. Seeing as they had no other options they went with following the cookie trail.
Finding the witch was easy; she’d taken refuge in the high school.
“Why the hell does everything always happen in this goddamn place?” Erica had hissed.
“Cursed.” Malia had suggested, which earned her another smack in the back of the head, this time from her girlfriend. She just grinned at her.
Beating the witch was hard; she was tough, needless to say. But they had a plan that time; an actual plan instead of the half assed one Malia had thought of earlier: Allison and Kira would distract her while Erica and Malia tried to take her down.
It worked, for the most part. They captured her with minimal injuries to themselves. One good threat from Malia that she would rip the witches pretty little throat out and she reversed the curse just like that—apparently she knew what glowing blue eyes meant on a werewolf.
“Were-coyote, thank you.” Malia had corrected darkly, an evil pointed smirk on her face.
Beacon Hills quickly turned back into a bustling town and as for the lady who got her ear gnawed off, well, let’s just say they could hear her screaming all the way up at the school.

Kira was absolutely not sulking. She was in fact enjoying herself, hiding in Lydia’s kitchen and drowning her sorrows in something fizzy and fruity enough to hide the bitter aftertaste of mistletoe instead of enjoying the Christmas party the rest of the pack had put together. She supposed she knew why there may have been sulk-parallels with what she was doing, but not enough of them that Scott should’ve noticed!
Maybe she was sulking, but it wasn’t her fault! It was that hat’s fault. That stupid, silly hat with its dangling (plastic) mistletoe and jingly bells. Stiles was so proud when he arrived toting the monstrosity. He’d had it for all of three minutes, before Malia came up and snatched it off of his head. Kira was doomed ever since.
It was a silly hat, bright green and covered in sequins. It jingled every time Malia moved her head, and it made Malia incorrigible. She walked around like an avenging spirit, swooping into conversations with sinister jingle-jangle and leaving everyone laughing in her wake. It was the worst. She dropped a kiss on Mason’s cheek, messed up Lydia’s lipstick, and did something with Scott that left Kira’s stomach flip-flopping and her face flushed like she’d had too much wine.
She had no reason to act so cagey, or rude, or. Or jealous. She really didn’t. Malia was single now, and happily so. She could do everything she wanted -anyone she wanted. A couple of silly little lunch things didn’t mean anything, neither did the long study sessions at the library, or the way Malia always picked her up after lacrosse practice. Except Kira wanted them to mean something. She’d been floating on cloud nine for weeks, convincing herself that they had. It wasn’t fair to expect anything of Malia when Kira hadn’t told her anything. She was being irrational.
Which was what brought Kira to her hideaway, where she pointedly was not sulking.
“Hey, Scott said you were sulking.”
Kira groaned, smacking her hand across her forehead and begged the floor to swallow her whole.
“I am not sulking.” She insisted, and didn’t need to look at Malia’s face to know that a lie wouldn’t fly. “I’m just… Being really lame.”
Cautiously, she picked through her fingers to see how much damage she’d caused, but Malia was frowning at her with so much concern, Kira wanted to apologize. Kira focused on the wrong thing.
“You smell sad. And like those fake cherries. What’s wrong with you?” Malia demanded, the same time the kitsune blurted out, “Where’s the hat?”
“I lost it, why are you sad?” Malia insisted, impatience creeping into her tone as she crowded into Kira’s space, squinting as she sorted through the stimuli Kira was giving off to see if was hurt somewhere.
“Weren’t you – like really enjoying?” Kira asked a little helplessly, bringing her hands up to push Malia back, before realizing what a terrible idea that was. Malia’s hands were on her hips, and that was great. She should have left at that. Really should have. “Kissing people?”
“Sure?” The coyote had absolutely no idea what Kira was getting at, but a quick rerun of everything she’d done that evening told her she hadn’t messed up. There was no kissing anyone who didn’t explicitly say they wanted to be kissed. That was a big one. “Kissing’s fun.”
“Everyone? Is kissing everyone fun?”
“Yeah. Kissing IS fun. You can kiss anyone you want, no problem. It’s like a game. That’s why I had the hat on, you know? Mistletoe?”
Kira was on a roll, and there was no stopping her. It was awful, and she wished she could cut out her own tongue (except not, because that was really painful, and the cocktails were making her dramatic). She knew she was being silly. Not everyone needed the same level of familiarity to want to do things with someone that she, and it was unfair of her to push her concerns on Malia, but she still asked, “Does it make a difference if you really like someone?”
“Uh. Yeah. When I like someone, then I want to get better at kissing them, even if they suck at it, so I like kissing them more. Making them happy – that becomes a whole lot more important, too. They’re worth putting the effort into it.” When Malia looked at her like she’d grown a second head, Kira really couldn’t blame anyone but herself. She didn’t take her eyes off of Kira the entire time she spoke.
Sighing deeply, just barely keeping from throwing her hands up in the air, Malia demanded, “Now that we’re done with your weird questions, are you going to tell me why you’re sad, or are we just going to stand here like losers all night? Or I can take you home if you’re not feeling good?”
“I just have one more question.” Kira murmured softly. Malia startled when she touched her wrist, but instinctively inched closer to the kitsune, even though there was not much closer to be had.
“Can you teach me how to get better at kissing you? I kind of want you to kiss just me. Is that okay?” Kira had no idea what she was doing, or if she was doing anything even slightly resembling the right thing, but before she could apologize for asking two more questions, Malia dipped her like a salsa dancer. They were too busy for questions.

“What if they don’t like me?” The blonde questioned for the hundredth time since she and her girlfriend had gotten into the car and began their journey to Beacon Hills.
“They’re going to love you.” Her girlfriend assured.
Erica bit her lip, looked out the window. “Okay, but what if they don’t?”
The brunette woman sighed heavily, then said, “Erica, they will.”
“But you don’t know that.” She turned to her with worried eyes.
“I talk about you all the time to them—they already love you.” Cora gave her a little smile and a quick reassuring look before she turned her attention back to the road.
Erica crossed her arms, scooted down in her seat. “That’s because they haven’t met me.” She leaned her head back on the seat, closed her eyes. “When they meet me they’ll hate me.”
Her girlfriend reached over and grabbed her hand, gave it a squeeze, said gently. “I know you and I love you.”
“Yeah, but you love assholes.” The curly haired woman pointed out, though she squeezed her hand back and locked their fingers together.
Cora stifled a laugh, turned left off the highway. “In case you haven’t noticed, I am an asshole, too. I come from a family of assholes, Erica, you’ll fit right in.” She stated confidently.
Erica stayed quiet, considering her words. Cora had a huge family, she knew by all the pictures that decorated her apartment. And she was fond of them, too, by the way she talked about them so lovingly. Erica always wanted to meet them, she really did, but she just wasn’t expecting it to be on Christmas. She also thought they would be together longer than five months before meeting the parents, too. Lucky for you I have no parents for you to meet. Erica had earlier that day before they set out on their little adventure. She’d meant it jokingly, but the way Cora looked at her, all sad and sympathetic just made her stomach turn.
“But what if—“ Erica was silenced by a sharp look from her girlfriend.
“Erica Brianne Reyes if you don’t shut up about it I’m going to throw you out of this car.” She muttered, gripping the steering wheel tightly in agitation.
The blonde narrowed her dark eyes. “You wouldn’t dare.”
Cora raised an eyebrow. “Try me.” Her voice was challenging. Erica knew damn well that the woman wouldn’t do it, that it was just a tactic for the argument to be over.
“Fine.” Erica mumbled, giving up. She supposed the bickering had lost its spark, anyway.
The brunette’s posture relaxed and she leaned back into the seat. “I love you.”
“You love me so much you’d make me walk in the cold.” Erica stated plainly. Cora turned and gave her a sour look. Erica grinned, then placed her hand on her girlfriend’s knee and squeezed a little. “I love you, too.” She said sweetly.
“How do I look?” Erica asked as the two of them walked up to Cora’s mansion. She’d mentioned that her parents were pretty loaded—with her mom being an all powerful state attorney and her dad working for the FBI. Plus, when you grew up with a bunch of siblings and your aunts and uncles living in the same house, it needed to be big. Cora’s family was close. That was something Erica always envied about her.
Cora gave her a once over, then said, “You look fine.”
“But what about my hair?” She asked, patting her delicate curls.
“Perfect.”
“And my lipstick? Is there any on my teeth?”
“No.” The woman sighed and linked her arm with her girlfriend’s.
“You didn’t even look!” Erica exclaimed, throwing her free arm up in the air.
“Erica—“
Then the front door swung open and a standing in the threshold was a girl, around twelve, with dark skin and curly black hair wearing a red and white festive dress. Her eyes grew wide when she saw her aunt, and then a toothy grin consumed her face when she saw the other woman. “Cora! Erica! Aunt Talia, they’re here!” She called, then grabbed the woman’s hands and pulled them into the warm house.
Like Erica knew, Cora had a huge family, but sitting there at the huge dinner table with them, they looked like a small army. There was Talia and her husband, then Laura, Cora’s older sister, and her wife Kate with their kids Emily, Hayden, Tracy, and Heather. Then Cora’s older brother Derek, his wife Braeden, and their three kids—triplets, Violet, the girl who answered the door, Mason, and Boyd. Malia, Cora’s cousin, and her fiancé Kira. Peter and Danielle, Malia’s parents. Then there were the younger siblings, those who were still in college: Brett, Liam, and Jackson. And the last two who were in high school: Caitlin and Paige.
So, yeah, needless to say Erica was a bit overwhelmed with all the introductions, but she calmed down once the food was served and everyone started chatting amongst themselves.
They didn’t ask awkward questions or bombard her with demands of what she did, who her parents were, what her intentions were, if they were getting married, when were they moving in, nothing like that, and Erica was grateful.
After dinner they all gathered in the large living room to have drinks and to cool down for the night. Erica was serving herself a slice of cake and a beer when Malia came up to her. “So what are your intentions with my cousin?” She asked lowly, her expression serious.
Erica’s eyes grew wide. “I, uh, um,” Her brain fizzed out and she stumbled over her words.
Malia broke out into a grin and clapped her on the back. “I’m just fucking with you Erica.”
“Oh,” The blonde exhaled heavily, gave a weary smile.
“But seriously,” The short haired woman’s face went serious again. “Are you gonna marry her?”
She nearly spat out her drink. “What? Uh—maybe? I don’t—I don’t know? I mean—we’ve only been dating for five months, isn’t that a little too early?”
Malia studied her for a few moments. “Good answer.” She nodded in approval.
Erica felt like she was going to pass out. “Okay…”
“You don’t want to rush into things like some love sick teenagers.”
“Right.”
“You’re good for her.” Malia smiled, looked over towards her cousin on the other side of the room talking to her brother and sister.
Erica followed her gaze, a small smile forming on her lips, too. “You think?”
“Absolutely.” Malia nodded. “I’ve never seen her happier.” Then she patted her on the back again and walked away to join her fiancé near the Christmas tree. Erica finished her drink and grabbed another slice of cake before heading towards her girlfriend to officially meet Laura and Derek.
