Notes from brief:

This project will challenge you to collaboratively investigate innovative approaches to visual disruption. 

The inspiration for this project comes from the WW1 Dazzle Ships and the creative innovation and thinking that brought them about. 

You will be working in small cross course groups to explore notions of visual disruption, within the 14-18 NOW! context. Project groups will be identified through workshops during the initial research phase, and will determine a number of overarching themes.

Now The Hero, Swansea International Festival. @tcspr @1418NOW #TOTastemaker @SwanseaFestMA Putting #Swansea on the cultural map!

Swansea International Festival runs from the 22nd September to the 7th October this year. It has many interesting events, among them a stand up performance by Rob Bryden and a production of Gilbert and Sullivan’s “Iolanthe”.

The centrepiece of the Festival is a Welsh Commission for 14-18NOW called “Now The Hero” 14-18NOW have collaborated with various artists to make some very compelling pieces…

Terrific visit from artist Dorcas Casey (*Former Strode Student and staff) who talked about the women’s suffrage movement and the 100 year anniversary of British women winning the right to vote. This is part of the ‘Processions’ campaign that is funding artists around the country to work with schools, colleges and community groups to make banners to celebrate the anniversary and to take part in a ‘processions’ event in London on the 10th June 2018. This is being arranged by ‘Artichoke’ and ‘14-18 Now’.

Dorcas is now coming into college every Wednesday for 5 weeks to run workshops and to work on the banner making and we started by producing pennants and badges.
