The sitting room was quiet for once.
Sunlight spilled through the tall windows, warming the couch where Tom and Y/N were stretched out together.
Aurelia was on the rug a few feet away, completely absorbed in building something very important out of wooden blocks.
Tom sat behind Y/N, one arm loosely wrapped around her waist while she leaned comfortably against his chest.
For a while, neither of them spoke.
They just watched Aurelia.
Then Tom slowly reached up, gathered a small section of Y/N’s hair in his hand, lifted it to his nose
and inhaled.
Deeply.
His shoulders visibly relaxed.
Y/N froze.
“…Are you sniffing my hair?”
Tom didn’t even hesitate. “Yes.”
She twisted slightly in his arms to look at him, eyes narrowing in amused disbelief. “Tom.”
“It helps me relax,” he replied calmly.
She rolled her eyes. “You’re unbelievable.”
Tom simply buried his nose in her hair again.
Y/N huffed a laugh. “You’re the most feared wizard alive and you’re over here sniffing shampoo.”
“It’s coconut,” he corrected mildly.
“That does not make it better.”
Tom tightened his arm around her waist, resting his chin lightly on her shoulder. “You smell good. That is not a crime.”
“You’re obsessed,” she muttered.
“I prefer attentive.”
Y/N shook her head, smiling despite herself.
Across the room, Aurelia suddenly knocked over her tower with dramatic enthusiasm.
Both of them looked over.
Tom watched her for a moment, then quietly leaned down and inhaled Y/N’s hair again.
Y/N groaned. “Tom.”
“What?”
“I heard that one.”
“I didn’t even move.”
“You did!”
Tom smirked slightly against her shoulder.
“Relax,” he murmured. “You said you wanted a devoted husband.”
Y/N snorted. “I did not say this level of devotion.”
