Real Madrid arrive in Houston | July 19, 2019
Last week Friday, on a very rainy and consequently very muddy day in rural Buckinghamshire, I sat and stood all day at Pennfest waiting for the headliners, my beloved Suede, to play in the evening. I knew they would focus mainly on their well known songs, their chart toppers, rather than album tracks and b-sides, but I also knew they would be just as intense and ferocious.
This song came on, a breather in between throwing myself around, so I decided to film it. What I didn't expect was that this would be the first song in which Brett came off the stage *and* he came to me! I had to stop filming so I could squeeze him and sing along with him and everyone so the video isn't the entire song. Check out in particular those backdrops, which I'd never seen before. Have you? All the other songs had artwork I recognised. These photographs were *really* erotic and a nice unknown surprise.
Okay so my hot take is that the CG Lion King doesn’t even necessarily look bad in that the technical details and realism captured on the lions and other animals looks fine, it’s just that in going for hyperrealism it looks completely soulless and it’s impossible to read anything from their faces or take the fact that they’re talking seriously. But fuckin, Cats (2019) like holy shit how is it that that looks acceptable to anyone? Imo Jason Derulo cat looks the worst but they’re all really bad like wow. Shoutouts to Jacksfilms’ frame-by-frame analysis of the trailer though I had a lot of fun watching that.

Dr Stone episode 3 was brilliant, I’m loving this show. Super happy they brought back Yuzuriha this early, there’s not really any reason to delay it and she’s super cute and fun so I’m glad she’s here. Love that she’s still got her weird moe headphones, shoutouts to me for taking until episode 3 to recognise that she’s voiced by Kana Ichinose when she had more than enough dialogue in episode 1 to make me realise and I just, didn’t. Tsukasa’s becoming a pretty threatening villain and that’s always fun, but I still love that he doesn’t necessarily feel like someone who’s complete evil or anything. Also there’s this one scene, and I mean you’ve seen the episode if you’re reading this so you’ll know that it’s this one, but the part where Taiju’s like “did Tsukasa do something bad?” and Senku’s pretty much just like “yeah”. I loved this scene. This very simple exchange is wonderful. It completely cuts out any and all unnecessary exposition to keep the pace flowing smoothly while being a very strong showcase of Senku and Taiju’s trust in each other. God their dynamic is so fucking refreshing I adore it. Honestly I’m inclined to say this is looking like anime of the season, it’s so good.
Watched the 2nd episode of Given, it was pretty good. Some girls in Uenoyama’s class are apparently already suspecting that he’s gay, also we got the Sato singing voice reveal, and yeah he was pretty good at it. It’d be nice if I didn’t know in advance he was good from the MAL description but I mean it’s too late to care.
It seems the broadcast of Fire Force's 3rd episode has been intentionally delayed in light of what happened at KyoAni. Understandable.
