When I saw @happylifesims latest 1940s dress I was itching to put some patterns on it, so I've gone ahead and recoloured it in a few floral and gingham swatches. I've also added solid swatches in SerendipitySims' Historian palette!

Somehow the file size has ended up quite large, so please bear that in mind, sorry!
The 1940s was a decade defined by war and bridal fashions reflected as such. Gone were the sleek gowns inspired by the glamour of the silver screen of the previous decade, instead it was quite common for the entire wedding party to simply wear their best dress or suit. Some brides chose to make a new dress for the occasion, with a color and design that would make it wearable again after the wedding. Wearing the dress of their mother, family member or close friend was another popular option.
Silk and satin were not available as fabric choices during the war, so gowns could be made from rayon, crepe and taffeta instead. After the war white silk parachutes were released for sale back to the public and quickly became a choice material for wedding dresses and bridal lingerie. Gowns were quite simple as trimmings such as lace and tulle were very expensive and not justifiable during such an economically restrictive period.
Bridesmaid dresses were similarly affected by wartime constraints, with the practical choice being a dress that was wearable after the wedding. Light colours and floral prints were the most popular. Just as they were with women's everyday fashion, hats and gloves were common finishing touches to an attendant's ensemble. CC links and reference images under the cut.

All of these are sourced from original and reproduction wallpapers (x x x), most of them are 1940s-1950s, but the one with the black silhouettes (second from the right, top row) is from the 1920s.

We can do it! These 1940s-style posters will encourage your Sims to help the war effort. Comes in 3 swatches each (9 total) featuring a riveter, a nurse, and a movie star. They feature three Sims from my legacy: Alexandrea Cole, Esperanza Cortes, and Holly Alto. The text reads, right to left, “Buy War Bonds”, “We Can Do It!”, and “Become A Nurse”.
Ever since I started using the amazing face shading by Simandy I've been looking for an excuse to use the super high contrast swatch and today is that day! Since Judith's vibe already lends her to the 1940s, I thought I'd turn her into a film noir starlet. I'm really tempted to create a whole series of Judith movie posters now...
