Torrential rain when I got back. Since the motor was in back of f100 I had too much weight behind trailer tires. A lot of fishtailing if I went over 50mph. Long drive home!

Tore down the motor tonight. Was going to leave it alone and install intake and carb to see how it runs. Unfortunately, I noticed a bunch of dirt and grime in the heads and decided to pull them. A lot of carbon build up in the cylinders. Motor and trans have 61k miles on them but I am going to go through them before installing. Giving a call to my guy Kerry at ATS in Everett, WA for a badass set of aluminum heads. Stay tuned
Pulled the motor and trans out of the bed tonight and hauled them into the garage for inspection.
The truck came with a ton of great parts and I'll go over them all soon. First up, 302 engine and AOD trans out of crown Vic. Also 9" disk brake rear out of a Merc with 3.27 gears. Will probably get rid of the electronic stuff and upgrade the top end of the motor.
Went to war with a big wasp nest under the hood. Won the war. Now getting a better look at what I am working with.
Had to get creative to get the non running and no brakes truck off the trailer. Rigged up my old chain hoist and used a little elbow grease. Huge help from my wife!
Picking up 56 Ford F100 project in New Hampshire and bringing it home to NJ. Will post diary of this project here on Tumblr.
