Untitled 19-tone composition for four voices
This one is pretty brutal, I must admit.
And I wrote it so on purpose, because it's a serial piece...but with 19 divisions of the octave instead of 12. Some people would call this "atonal", others would call it useless random shit, but I think it just sounds cool. I wanted to write a serial piece for 19-TET...mostly because I could...but I knew what I was getting into. I spent about a solid hour working out the tone row; I actually tried to make it as tonal as possible, since 19-TET lends itself to it. The result is abrasive, unforgiving, and eerie, and I dig it.
