Benin Artist, “Leopard” (circa mid 19th century) Edo: Benin Kingdom, Nigeria, 

Leopards were considered 'kings of the forest' and were an important symbol of regal power in Benin. Obas (the rulers of Benin) kept a number in captivity as well as maintaining specialist guilds of leopard hunters at court. 

Brass or ivory models of leopards adorned the palace in Benin City, and kings were frequently depicted holding a pair of leopards by their tails as an emblem of supremacy.

Location, location, location. Where you lived said as much about you in Jane Austen's time as it does today.

The only problem with Cheapside ( and Gracechurch Street) was its association with Trade. Something of which the Bingley sisters were of course hyper aware -their own wealth being most firmly established from trade and not from income  derived from landed property.
