Dani’s gaze switched from the buildings around her, down to the papers in her hands as she strolled down the road, hiking her bag up on her shoulder and looking everywhere but where she was going. She was lost, having only arrived at the compound that morning, and she had already evaded her tour guide, landing herself in a confusing situation. “Hey-!” she snapped, as she collided into another body, “I was walking here, this whole place doesn’t make sense! Half these buildings have two names,” she growled, gesturing to the map as she picked it up from the ground, “How do you know where anything is?”

Perched on the edge of the fountain, Rae stared at the water intently. Her fingers moved in unison as the water rippled, small creatures appearing from the surface. Made of water they arched in the air, before disappearing back below the surface. They continued to leap out of the water, each time adding another as Rae glanced back at the open book beside her, dolphins covering the pages. With her attention directed elsewhere, the water surged, sending a splash reaching several feet outside the fountain walls. “Oh, shoot!”, she mumbled, pushing back strands of wet hair, looking around, “Oh no, did I get you? I didn’t mean to, I just got distracted. I’m trying to fine detail train, and I just read about these, these, dolphins, I thought I could mimic them..”

Half of his hands were covered in bandaids while the other half of his hands were covered in tiny cuts. Clark put down the screwdriver a little louder than he needed to, paired with an almighty sigh that wasn’t hard to decode. “Today just ain’t my day.” He mumbled softly to himself. His head was pounding from the night before still. Perhaps standing that close to the speakers wasn’t such a good idea, but hell, no regrets. He tossed an empty can aside and filled an already used glass with water from the tab. Clark leaned against the counter, crossing his arms as an attempt to hide the frustration. Why can’t I crack this? He thought to himself as he took a sip. His thought process was interrupted. “Hm?” He looked up. “Oh, hey. What’s up?”

“I’m going to be honest, here. I really don’t know what to tell you,” Jacob chewed on his lip for a half second while the gears in his head tried to come up with a solution for the person. “I’m not exactly sure why you’d come to me with this problem. I can name 10 actual agents who would handle this better than I would.”

“You are letting your opponent dictate the fight, you have to always been acting, never reacting!” Jo called from above, leaning over the suspended catwalk as she watched the simulated training session below. Her eyes watched the trainees intently as they continued to fail. She wasn’t entirely upset, she had expected them to fail. “They have to realize that perfectly executed missions never happen in the real world. Perfect training doesn’t prepare them for the very imperfect field, they should fail, a lot,” she smirked, turning to face the person closest to her, “You didn’t need me for anything, did you? Or are you just here for the show?”

It was late, gone past 11pm, but Ethan was down in the shooting range making the most of the fact it was pretty much empty this time of night. He squeezed off another few rounds, emptying the magazine until the slide cocked back to indicate he was out. He let out a huff, knocking the button with his knuckles to bring in the target as his shoulders slumped. It wasn’t good enough. To anyone else it’d be pretty damn good work, his shots were nicely grouped together in the chest, but to Ethan it just wasn’t good enough. He shook his head slowly as he pulled down his ear guards around his neck, taking out the empty magazine to click in new ammunition. It was only then that he realised he wasn’t alone by the sound of footsteps, “Enjoying the show?” He asked lightly, tone uncharacteristically flat and dejected.

He was going to talk to someone today. 

Ira had been at the compound for a few weeks, but the overwhelm from the size and population of the compound was enough to keep him either shut up in a room or sit so quietly in a corner that no one would notice him. Instinct told him that he preferred it that way, but he’d been alone for so long and now he finally had an unsupervised opportunity to make a friend. Old habits died hard and his social skills were definitely stunted, but after a solid week of trying to get himself to say a word to a stranger that looked nice, a full sentence managed to leave his mouth. “I-I don’t suppose you have a cigarette, do you? Or know where I could get some?” His heart pounded in his chest nervously, but he celebrated his small victory in his head. He didn’t have to be alone anymore.
