Working with athletes is not one size fits all. We found in the first video due to poor ankle mobility (she does ankle rockers everyday to work on it) she wasn’t able to maintain a proper position. Elevating the bumpers a bit allowed a much better starting position as you can see in the second video. We do goblet squats and bodyweight squats for a larger range of motion to make up for what we aren’t getting with the trap bar. As a volleyball player, the elevated position more closely mimics her sporting demands anyways. Using Dr. Yessis’ 1x20 system is helping her progress nicely. She’s noticed increases in strength.
