Despite the bad news regarding the maggots, our seeds have sprouted! And they’re beautiful!
Excuse me for my terrible photography skills

Okay so there’s this twig-like thing that’s been on our plot for a few days now and it looks like legitimate faeces (judging by its texture and colour) and today when we went to check the plot it was in white, and pretty gross. We suspect the white stuff is hyphae from funghi, since there was a ball of funghi on the plot next to ours before, but we can’t be sure. The thing about the twig-thing is that it was surrounded by flies the previous two days, when the seeds we chose (Basalm and Nasturtium) aren’t supposed to attract pests. Let’s hope after we’ve gotten rid of the suspicious thing everything will be fine...
(btw this is no April Fool’s drill)

Went back to school on a non-school day to check on the seeds and water the plot. Weird thing is, nothing seems to have happened to the seeds and I dared not fiddle with the soil and seeds.
Hope nothing’s gone wrong fingers crossed

This week’s show location was at the Umpqua (yes, you read that right) Bank, 2801 N. Ventura Rd, not far from The Collection. They are named after the Umpqua River in Oregon, site of an ancient native American settlement. UMPQUA VP Stacy Peterson told us that they are a division of Sterling, now have about 100 community banking locations in California and specialize in commercial business lending, but do other loans as well. The branch loves visItors and offers free coffee and sometimes, donuts. It’s right on the way to the Collection, so it’s convenient. It’s also the only bank we’ve been to with a dog dish on the floor. www.umpquabank.com
