Got my new dangler in place and tied on nicely. I ordered two at the same time when the old one broke, got this one last Saturday and tonight when I decided to go see if I could cancel the other one it finally has shipping information and says it's expected this Saturday. Good thing I didn't order only that one.

Anyway, playoffs started tonight. We are the lowest seed after finishing last in the regular season. That means we're the "road" team for all playoff games, which must be why half my crease was a puddle of water for most of the first period. That didn't help but wasn't really the fault of the 3 goals I let in that period. They were due mostly to our defense getting outskated, giving up turnovers, and some great shot placement.

The second period was similar, I gave up 2, one to a faster player poking in a rebound I thought I had covered, and one great placed shot on a three on one play. The periods were also similar in that I had a save with my face in each, though the score keeper only counted the first one. In the second period there was a minute or so sequence where I made probably three great saves, including one with my face, and another five or so saves and when I looked at the score board the shot total had gone up by one.

In the third, they got one that I honestly can't even remember how it went in. Then we somehow scored on two consecutive shots, and for just a second, it seemed things much actually get interesting. But we never really had any more dangerous chances after that, and I let one more in just from fatigue leading to me being out of position.

It was a frustrating game and made worse by this team being the one with a few guys who are pretty fast skaters but also seem to feel the need to cherry-pick, especially when their team has a big lead. In the last couple minutes of the game, they were up by 5 goals, and they were cherry-picking and breaking into the zone trying to score. It was ridiculous and annoying. I saved it and thought the whistle had gone so dropped the puck, but the whistle was slow so I had to make three more saves before time ran out (but just one save on the score board for the entire play).

At least the game was finally over then, and the other goalie came by and said he was sorry about that, and in the end the official shot count was 42 shots faced. Considering the ones I was aware of not having counted, I think a more accurate number would be in the area of 60. I was very tired in the locker room taking my stuff off and I was certainly frustrated but thinking back on the game I really only let in one weak goal I think and had easily five spectacular saves in addition to probably ten more pretty good saves.
