Death Doesn’t Discriminate ~ 2.26.17
Ally was never a woman who could be stopped when she put her mind to something, and that would never change. Steve was the last one to knock on her bedroom door, and she invited him in even though she already knew the spiel she was about to receive.
“Ally, I know what today is and I know how hard it is for you, but you’re risking your freedom if you go. Think about the consequences.”
“I have thought about the consequences,” she said as she packed the last few things into her backpack and zipped it up. “It’s worth it.”
“Is it?”
Ally shot daggers with the glare she gave to Steve, and his eyes fell to his lap.
“You know I mean no disrespect to your parents,” he said, voice a little softer.
She sighed and her expression softened. “I know. And I know you’re just worried about me, but I have to go. On the anniversary I visit their graves. The stupid Accords aren’t going to stop me.”
While ready to argue further, Ally found Steve choosing to stay silent and after a long pause, he resigned. “At least let me go with you.”
“No way. I’m risking myself and that’s it.”
“I can fly you in one of T’Challa’s jets. You’ll be too tired if you fly all the way there yourself. I’ll stay in the air so they don’t detect me. You can fly back up to the jet when you’re ready.”
Ally knew she could make the trip, but he was right in that it would be rough going back and forth in one day. “Alright, fine.” She threw the backpack on. “Let’s go.”
