Finally out of danger, Yaz collapses on Sammy's shoulder.
Anne (Part 2) Black Sails Musical Parallels | XIV. XVII. XXXV. XXXVIII.
music breakdown note: the music in this parallel is made up of four different parts. The main parts are A and B, and the additional ones are C, E. (D is almost an overtone rather than a part, and sometimes plays underneath other main parts.)
All the scenes in this group have only A. In XVII, some of D plays before A begins.
music variation note: XXXV is in a lower key In XXXVIII, an additional note is played between the two last notes of the A part.
Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4
I spent a year rewatching Black Sails and tracking all the bits of music that repeated at any point during the show, and my findings are reinforcing that Bear McCreary is a genius and this show should have been called 'parallels that will kill you over and over again'* (tag | chronological)
Jesse KNOWS Amber is a better shot than him and he usually loves it. Like she demonstrated it once ON him and he has never held it against her for a second.
But she gets positive attention for it and suddenly he is bothered XD
Makes me extra appreciate last week's scene where she encouraged him to not take credit for Kelvin showing up Vance and he mostly seemed to agree. I love the way this show builds character growth.
I also love Amber's cute little dance while people are cheering for her hehe
Wunderbar, I can’t wait. Although this probably means no Bright Fight. :(
Octavia is as straight as a freshly fired arrow.
Mood tbh
Again, this may just be my own personal version of “Guy who has only seen Boss Baby.”, but it’s giving Amy Dallon. Which is, needless to say, concerning.
Octavia is just mood this chapter, isn’t she
I do wonder what that means.
It’s giving
Okay, well now I think she’s got a trick up her… tank-top? Skin?
Oh okay. She’s actually just a dragon. Sure.
I wonder what else Grim’s got under there. Does she fabricate the weapons with magic or use some form of hammerspace to store previously acquired items? Can she do it without transforming and do they remain between form changes? So many questions…
Oh almost certainly. We haven’t seen much of Bright in combat. But from what we do see, it seems like Grim both outspeeds, and out ranges her.
First off: Liar. Second off: Possibly the most damaging insult she could have come up with. Damn.
The more I relate to Octavia, the less confident I feel in my mental health.
Octavia, Totally not a Homosexual: “If I had a panopticon I’d be looking and boobs.”
Bonkers? Nuts? Violent?
Yeah, that works.
Loving this fr. She’s nearly as self-destructive as I am :) I do love self-destructive characters who burn bridges at the drop of a hat. /gen
Signal’s magic talk reminded me of a bunch of questions I have regarding the whole Magical Girl thing. We’re told that only girls can become, well, Magical Girls. But what about the Transgenders™? Can the Dream-Gods detect trans people? What about people whose gender identity changes over time, or agender and enby folk? Do genderfluid people just stop being Magical Girls sometimes???
Although this could just be because anybody who isn’t cishet gets sent to a supermax prison / conversion therapy center as has been implied.
~~Gaslight, Gatekeep, Girlboss~~
I’ve got a few theories, but I think I’ll save those for a separate post.
That. Is a very interesting line. I haven’t the slightest clue as to what it might mean though.
And there we have it, another chapter down. A big chapter too, lots to think about.
Wealth Indicator
A symbol of value in civilized society, now only used for tracking changes in numbers. Can be exchanged at a special counter. Now roll the die to determine how much wealth you have … Five. Take this coin-it represents five wealth. Units? There are no units.
