Presented here is footage to be incorporated in part into a chapter of UNECO's documentary, Luminous Compass (now in post-production), called: "Mundo Diferente" (A Different World), a title inspired by “Another World Is Possible,” the motto of the World Social Forum, a counter-hegemonic globalization movement that began in 2001 in Porto Alegre, Brazil.
This montage illustrates aspects of South American transformation, spearheaded and guided by democratically elected President of Venezuela, Hugo Chavez, who opened a new era of people’s liberation long before the Arab Spring uprisings, the expanding resistance movements in Europe, and the Occupy Movement in America that has now spread around the globe. Chavez, as attorney/writer Eva Golinger, Últimas Noticias editor Eleazar Rangel, BBC journalist Greg Palast, Villa del Cine director Lorena Almarza, and venezuelanalysis.com founder Gregory Wilpert reveal, was among the first to shine a direct light on the rising dangers brought about by disintegration of democracy in North America. He was early in naming Washington as the seat of oligarchs ruling an aggressive empire and exposing its aim of re-imposing American hegemony south of the border. He never shied away from showing how the World Bank and IMF exert power as self-anointed owners of the world.
