2012 Recap

So this is coming 11 days too late, partially due to travel, being sick, and pure laziness. 2012 was a very good year for photography, all though it started fast and ended slow. I am very proud of the work I created this year. I posted these goals a year ago.... 1) To continue gaining confidence and momentum in my work I gained a lot of confidence with my shoots this year by trying new things and striving to grow in my portraiture. I completed a total of 26 formal shoots.

2) Remaining inspired and working towards creative and unique collaborative projects with models and other creatives

  I began working with more MUAs and different artists such as DJs, and even 2 hair stylists (indirectly though). I planned a couple neat conceptual shoots and tried some new techniques.

3) Developing a strong defining photography style

  I think I managed to keep my style mostly consistent with a few experimentations here and there. I think people could recognize most of my photos as "Hannah Jenny", but now I want to find something to set my style even further apart!

4) Pushing my photography business to grow and working with more clients

  This year I picked up 5+ paid shoots, including 2 weddings, 2 portrait sessions, and an album cover. Huzzah!

5) One editorial before the end of the year

  I cheated a little on this and got it done early in the year, but an editorial is an editorial! I paired up with my past model Frosan Baggins for this nice little shoot- Roses in Her Hair - at one of my first photography locations ever. It was published in InPrint Photo Magazine May 2012.

Collaboration with Shawna Goosens, Marcella Robinson, Frosan Baggins, and myself for my first editorial. Other Random Highlights to fill up space: Got my first real job. And then a harder one. And then my photography. Busy Busy Busy. Graduated High School Moved to San Francisco!

Really got into psychedelic art. Even had it exhibited at my school's art show. I don't share it much though.

I bought my first polaroid cameras! Each piece of film was $3 though!!

I pretty much spend 1/2 the year sitting in parks thinking.

I found someone I trust to take photos of me- my friend Kai! We just go on explorations/photo taking sessions now.

Spent the new year in Tahoe with my best friend, freezing our ***** off at SnowGlobe! So now I will conclude the many happy memories of 2012 (and hopefully finish editing and get all these files archived) and ring in the new year. First shoot of the year and goals to come!!

It's been a while...

I wanted to get in here on the 2nd of January to start blogging again, but I got caught up and it is now the 17th. To be honest, that's still well within my usual procrastination time, so I'm pretty excited.

So let's see. Quick recap of 2012? Major highlights include:

- Going to London and paying for it all on my own

-Getting back into the concert scene. Actually, getting into music again in general.

-Becoming a writer for an online gossip blog. 

- Going to LA and realizing that I need to make moves. It's almost a reality.

-Getting a tattoo! Yeah, never saw that one coming tbh, but now I'm here for it.

Things that were eh...well I won't write in here. My major goals that I've always wanted have yet to see fruition, but I'm trying to become a person that focuses on the good that is happening, while picking myself up and trying again for the others.

2012 turned out to be a year filled with a lot of beginnings and some pretty interesting endings. I don't know how it will all play out, but these roots will probably set the tone for 2013. Which I'm not entirely sure I want, but I guess only time can tell. 

For 2013, there are some standards:

- I want to keep a healthier lifestyle and lose some weight. This one is a lot harder when you've got a lot of bills, but I need to make it a priority. 

-Be more social.  

- Give myself more personal time. Start doing things for me. If there's one thing I've realized is that, I give a lot of myself out to everyone and then expect the same in return. I put others in front of me, and that's not okay, especially if I can't get that in return. In reality, the change needs to come from me. So I'm working on that. This will be the hardest yet.

- Use my escapisms as just that. Don't live in that world because it's not real. At the same time, not to live life under anyone else's standards. I know people who just seem like they are above it all, as if they are now at a point in their life where they can no longer have fun. Hipster/ Pretentious? And I just shake my head. YOLO. I hate that Drake's ruined that phrase, but it stands true. Only one life to live, so LIVE it how you see fit. Make the best of it.

- Be ALOT better about being a friend. Keeping in touch is a problem I have. I hate being bombarded with questions about my life, so I tend to just cut myself off after a while, but that's no way to live.

- I wanna make a drastic physical change. Not sure how, but I feel like I've looked the same since high school, just with a bit more weight. That can't be good, lol. Maybe I'll start weaing blonde weaves and bright pink shades of lipstick. It worked for Nicki Minaj...

- Figure out how to get out of this mundane routine that is my life, and do something. IMMEDIATELY. This should be number one. It probably is.

- No fears.

And ofc, be better about follwing through. So here's to seeing this journal a lot more this year. Until then...
