This past week just flew by thanks to my hectic schedule. My hamstring has been still achy and so I decided to take advantage of my free “birthday session” with Dr. D. at All American Medical & Chiropractic. Dr. D. has helped me in the past; most significantly thanks to him I was able to finish my first and only half-marathon of my career. I need to really make it a point to include some preventative therapy into my routine in hopes that I stay injury-free. On Tuesday I flew into SF for my work meeting. I have been planning on running across the Golden Gate Bridge for a couple of months. When I finally got to the hotel, the last thing I felt like doing was going running. I am very proud to say that I decided that I couldn’t get anything in the way of me completing it. Weather was not as great as I had hoped for, but that’s to be expected in San Francisco. I started my run at the Embarcadero Bart station and ran along the Embarcadero towards the Golden Gate Bridge. I made it a point to stop at the Patagonia store just couple blocks from the Fisherman’s Wharf to once again check out some potential gear for my Nepal trip. I went on and the whole way, there was plenty to see and miles just went by quickly. Before I knew it I was at the bridge. Running across the bridge was actually lot less pleasant than I had hoped for. The combination of heavy car traffic right next to the pedestrian/bike section, very windy and cool weather and the fact that I don’t love heights resulted in a very brisk pace in my attempt to make it to the other side as quickly as possible. As planned, I then went on and continued my run to the picturesque town of Sausalito. After a quick stop for food I got on the ferry and rode back to SF. I was pleasantly tired and my legs have been definitely feeling sore since they don’t get to see much hill action in NOLA. After taking a red-eye back, I was in town for a day (my birthday, yay!) before taking off again. Off to my home, Czech Republic, that is!
