Honestly the worst part about this year is that we can no longer use Obama's "I mean, it's 2015. It's time" meme

So, I used to answer these at around New Year’s each year.  I thought it was a cool way to reflect on the year.  Obviously, I didn’t do that this year.  But I thought this was a good time to do it and to get myself back into the swing of things!

The 2015 end-of-year meme

1.What did you do in 2015 that you’d never done before?

Took a job that requires me to be bilingual

2. Did you keep your new years’ resolutions, and will you make more for next year?

I considered a new year’s resolution this year, even though I usually don’t make them, but I have not even remotely begun on it, so I guess this is why I don’t make them.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?

4. Did anyone close to you die?

no

5. What countries did you visit?

The Netherlands… hoping for Switzerland this year!  My main goal is to see more of Germany, though.

6. What would you like to have in 2016 that you lacked in 2015?

Self-confidence

7. What dates from 2015 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?

2015 wasn’t an especially good year, so I pretty much want to ignore everything that happened after the 2015 KuroFai Olympics, which were a joy

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?

Getting that bilingual job

9. What was your biggest failure?

I think we should avoid this question, because I will start listing everything I have ever done or been.  I’m still a little fragile.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?

If we count the very beginning of 2016, then yes.  I fell off my bicycle when I slipped on an icy patch, and I busted my face.  All healed up, though!  Just a teeny chip on a tooth!

11. What was the best thing you bought?

The plane tickets to go home and see my family (which I did in January)

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?

A friend that I am really proud of, who decided to face their fears and settle down for a while and take on their mental health head-on.  It’s been inspiring to be part of.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?

14. Where did most of your money go?

Travelling to Berlin and Amsterdam (and working on a debt in the U.S. that I am still working on this year)

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?

my trip home in January to visit my family/have my birthday

. . . was there music in 2015?  I swear I don’t remember most of last year

communicating

eating so much food with my girlfriend’s family

My girlfriend and I had our second anniversary in September

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?

I don’t really do that

I read so many good books last year?  I read Gentleman of the Road (Michael Chabon) and The Glass Castle (Jeanette Walls) and Blue Lily, Lily Blue (Maggie Stiefvater) and V For Vendetta (Alan Moore).  I guess those would be my top picks from the year.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?

I didn’t make any!

28. What did you want and get?

My new job

29. What did you want and not get?

Self-worth

30. What was your favorite film of this year?

So predictable… Ant-Man, Mad Max: Fury Road, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and The Martian were all great.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?

My birthday is in January.  If we are talking about 2015, I was at the North Sea having a head cold and freezing my ass off and celebrating someone else’s birthday.  This year, January 2016, I turned 31.  I was in the U.S. visiting my family.  We had a barbecue and my Grandma came across the country to be there. :3

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?

Writing something

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2015?

Get rid of everything that isn’t a basic/staple piece, and start from scratch.  Androgynize thyself.

34. What kept you sane?

I don’t think I was

Islamophobia

37. Who did you miss?

Being away from my older brother during one of the hardest times in his life was absolutely killing me

My friend at work that I admire a lot that I mentioned up there.

14: Where did most of your money go?

Probably food and rent. After that, probably travel stuff. (I actually spent very little on yarn this year, though...mostly because I had a huge stash left over from 2014, but that’s not the point.)

18: What do you wish you’d done more of?

Fic—both reading and writing. Also kickboxing, because I didn’t get to do that from July onward.

22: What was your favourite TV program?

Well, 2015 was the year of Outlander and Agent Carter, so...those. Because awesome and awesomely competent (and awesomely violent) period ladies. I still would very much like someone to fic me about that time Claire and Peggy met earlier on in the war.

But I thought Doctor Who had a great season, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine is definitely my favorite “regular” show on television at the moment.
