He used to be mine
We met when we were both still in high school. We became best friends. We did things together like a normal teenage girls and boys will do. We helped each other, a lot - I helped him with all the things needed for the girl he liked while he helped me with all the annoying ideas I could come up with. We were there for each other. Like brothers and sisters, supposedly.
College came, we took different paths. I, in Nursing and him, in Engineering. Months passed and obviously, freshmen were adjusting in the university life. Btw, we both got in the same university in Manila. We were both busy because of the requirements. It's super craaazy.
Amidst being in college, he never forgot me as his best friend. We met up, shared our other experiences in the college we're in, ate ice cream (lots of them) and he also met my newly found friends. Then before we part ways, we hugged. Time stopped when our bodies exchanged heat for just mere seconds. And for me, that felt good. It felt like I am seeing him in a new perspective, in a new shade of color. Maybe, I am too comfortable beside him. Maybe, I trust him so much. Or maybe... *fireworks*
Time passed by so fast, one thing led to the other then *boom*, we were together. We loved each other like no one else does. We gave all the time and communication we needed. We sacrificed some of the friendships we had with the other girls and boys because we're both the jealous type. I really loved him too much that it consumes me alive. Then, things get a little rough. We weren't doing anything to make it work. So, I chose to let go. I chose the hardest part because I wanted him to grow. I wanted both of us to grow. I wanted him to have the time of his life. I wanted him to do things without asking my permission or without asking anyone's permission. Plainly, I wanted him to be happy. Maybe not with me but at least, he's happy.
Now... all I can do is remember him;
I remember him, because he was my first love.
I remember him, because he has those cute smiles that made my heart skipped a beat.
I remember him, because he was the first guy that loved all my flaws and insecurities.
I remember him in a way that only my heart will know; in a way that only I will know. Even if, he doesn't remember me in that way any more.
