I’m really disappointed to see yet another confession from someone who suggests that an artist is terrible for having a personal opinion. I feel like we have become so extreme as a culture that if someone doesn’t agree with us on all points, we shun them, and we use the internet to basically put them in the stocks. Or burn a scarlet letter on them. 

In this case, someone doesn’t seem to support Alissa because she supports a straw ban that’s about to be enacted in Canada. 1) You don’t have to agree with her 2) everyone is entitled to their own opinion 3) if you’re really worried about straws for those who medically need them, make sure their needs are met. Don’t attack random people. Do research into what those people can do. Will they be able to purchase and bring their own straws to restaurants? If you attack a random supporter, you’re cheapening your own argument.

Here’s a good rule of thumb… if you disagree with someone, and they are arguing for something that isn’t seriously harmful or illegal, chill. You don’t need to arrange a boycott. Try a little tolerance, and quietly move on. Don’t give into extremism.
