Nick Hakim - Green Twins
It took me a while to digest Green Twins, but when the first track started I instantly knew that was something hot. Green Twins is massive and has its own world. It resists you, the structure is vague, it’s very suggestive, non-affirmative. What at first sounded like Moses Sumney tripping balls to a Curtis Mayfield record soon made sense. It’s all about this mood, this feel good, easy summer afternoon into a marijuana-smoky cozy room filled with 70s soul and psychdelic rock records. Still, Nick Hakim is not disconnected from 2017, you can hear Devendra Banhart, Animal Collective, Tame Impala influences all around.
