“Shoutout Sundays 2019”
2019 had a few date missing with which songs were the inspiration, but the consistency was getting there! These songs are all bops, sweet and mellow tunes, with some dancy dance ones mixed in!
Thanks for listening as always!
Enjoy!
Check out November 3rd! 🌸

Nyx’s 2019 Samhain Playlist
Let the Symphony begin!
“Nocturne in the Moonlight” by Michiru Yamane, cover by Wayne Strange: Starting off with the Resurrection of the Night cover of “Nocturne in the Moonlight.” You hear the first few gentle notes of “Prayer” rising up out of the darkness, and then move into a dramatic and sweeping version of SotN’s beautiful opening theme.
“Transylvania Overture” by Nox Arcana: Yeah, it’s a bit cheesy, but Joseph Vargo’s opening narration really sets the mood.
“Metamorphoses 1″ by Michiru Yamane: Look, a castle!
“Castle Dracula” by Nox Arcana: As awesome as Michiru Yamane’s “Dracula’s Castle” is, it’s not what I would call “spooky.” This piece is the castle as Dracula sees it-- dark, majestic, melancholy, and terrifying.
“Angels are Weeping” by Michelle Belanger and Nox Arcana: A pretty ballad about surrendering to darkness and indulgence.
“Visitors in the Night” and “Brides to Darkness” by Nox Arcana: The first track is sound effects and whispered voices that lead directly into “Brides to Darkness,” a beautiful and unsettling piece about Dracula’s “brides.”
“Dark Embrace” by Nox Arcana: The highlight of their new album The Haunted Symphony (Symphony!!).
“Dance of Pales” by Michiru Yamane, cover by Tim Stoney: The lovely Resurrection cover of “Dance of Pales.” It so perfectly balances the pretty and delicate with the sinister.
“Velvet Darkness” by Nox Arcana: Another one of my favorite tracks from The Haunted Symphony.
“The Grimm Troupe” and “Nightmare King” by Christopher Larkin: The two boss themes of the enigmatic ringleader Grimm from Hollow Knight. They are both energetic and perfectly Halloweeny. On my list they’re both preceded by Brumm’s accordion. Can’t you just hear the Grimmkin chanting their disturbing rhymes? “Burn the father, feed the child!”
“Carpe Noctem” by Jim Steinman: I love this piece. I love it so much! It’s the dark and sexy nightmare scene from Tanz der Vampire. The German version is better. The German. Version. Is. Better.
“The Music of the Night” by Andrew Lloyd Webber: The Phantom’s famous solo from The Phantom of the Opera. This is basically the same song as the previous one, but in a completely different style, more soft and seductive (and in English).
“Phantom of the Opera Medley” by Lindsey Stirling: And now, let’s do it all again, but with electric guitars!
“Born to Darkness,” “Lestat’s Tarantella,” and “Lestat’s Recitative” by Elliot Goldenthal: Three of my favorite tracks from the Interview with the Vampire soundtrack. I love how sensual they are.
“Don’t Go By the River” by Voltaire: Lestat is referenced directly in this song, too!
“Requiem for the Gods” by Michiru Yamane: Transports you directly to a creepy gothic cathedral. And what an awesome title!
“Dance of Gold” by Michiru Yamane, covered by Tim Stoney: This sounds like the music for two elegant vampires performing a pas de deux.
“House of Sacred Remains” by Michiru Yamane: Lament of Innocence is probably my second-favorite Yamane soundtrack, and this track sounded the most spooky to me. Actually, it was between this and “Nightmare Aria.”
“The Silent” by The Tragic Tantrum: This one is on here because of this brilliant animation.
“Doorway to the Abyss” by Michiru Yamane: You barely get to enjoy this nearly two-minute-long track because it takes you all of five seconds to get through the area where it plays.
“The Tragic Prince” by Michiru Yamane, cover by Wayne Strange: And finally, the triumphant Resurrection cover of “The Tragic Prince.” It is so freaking awesome.
