I absolutely loathe Izzy’s use of ‘Eddie’ here. It causes a visceral reaction in me. I know we hear Ed’s subconscious apply it through Hornigold in the gravy basket, and Izzy uses it a couple of times on his deathbed. I don’t think it’s meant directly as an insult, but there’s something so belittling and reductive about its use here.

Of course, an ‘Eddy’ is a small whirlpool fighting against the current…
