Every major Finnish news outlet being chock-full of the US election and not much else is starting to get kinda old.

For the sake of global equality and so all Americans will get a proper idea of what reporting about the US feels like to us who live elsewhere in the world, I propose that in turn, every major US news outlet will dedicate April 2021 to covering the Finnish municipal election. Will the centre party win the rural regions again? Will Helsinki go to the greens or the national coalition?? And that is how she finds herself in rural Pennsylvania, sitting in the passenger seat of a bright red rental car while Luna drives around, narrowly avoiding driving off the road or into another car. Notes: Written for the HP Crack!Fic Fest based on the prompt "Luna invites Ginny on an excursion in search of a strange creature for her next Quibbler article." This was a lot of fun to write! The title comes from Rodent by The Menzingers. Gritty is, of course, the iconic mascot who has transcended hockey, but in case you aren't familiar with him, this is what he looks like, and his backstory is that he was supposedly found living underneath the Philadelphia Flyers' arena and turned into a mascot. Some happy 2020 things:

Seeing Så som i himmelen x 2 back in February (I can’t believe that happened this year, feels like it was a decade ago)

That musical concert the night before the pandemic restrictions kicked in (ft. Maria Ylipää & Alexander Lycke)

Sticking to my daily walking schedule from late April onwards (today was my 252th daily walk!)

Drawing a lot (I haven’t counted, but I’ve probably drawn more this year than the last three years combined... and I’m so, so happy about that)

The new Finnish production of Evita (one of those shows where you’re all nervous before the curtain goes up because you want to love it so badly... and I certainly did, it’s so good)

That silly Jekyll & Hyde ballet

The fact that for a couple of months this autumn, the pandemic situation calmed down enough that Finnish theatres could reopen (even if they’re closed again now)

That whole Destiel goes canon three times ft. Putin incident (and yes, I am putting this on my highlights list without a hint of irony; nothing except for En del av mitt hjärta has brought me so much genuine joy during this nonsense year)

So it certainly hasn’t been all bad... but onwards to a happier new year, I hope.

Some years ago, I visited London with my mom, and one night, we woke up to the hotel’s fire alarm going off.

Or my mom woke up – and I started screaming along the alarm in my sleep. Alarm went beep beep beep, I went aaagh aaagh aaagh, mom tried her best to wake me up and I just kept yelling. In the end, it was my own screaming that woke me up (and luckily, it was a false alarm.)

I’ve thought about that, because nearing the end of this trying year, that is exactly how I feel like. Like there is a silent alarm going off and I’m quietly screaming along, all the time.

Is 2020 making anyone else feel like this, or is it just me?
