A new take on the lads beginnings. Robert returns to the village on his own but now as the new owner of Home Farm and the Mill as well as having shares in Home James. Right off the back, he comes out as bisexual and all the usual antis in the village instead welcome him with zero animosity (barring Katie). Robert automatically hits it off with Finn as well as Aaron but here they take it slow as they become boyfriends. Unfortunately, Aaron’s insecurities cause him to do something that tears apart their relationship (and Robert’s trust in him). But when Aaron’s past comes back to haunt him causing him self-harm, will the trauma lead the lads beyond being mates and back to being more?

Robert has ended his marriage to Chrissie realizing that the only person for him was Aaron, who makes him complete. Now that Robert and Aaron are officially together, Robert wants the two of them to live on their own and no longer at the pub. This leads to Robert buying Home Farm and he and Aaron redoing it to their likes. The next natural step is marriage for Robert (even if he decided previously it wouldn’t be in his future). The tiny (well not so tiny) problem with that is Chas who is unable to let go of his past as he had hurt Aaron previously. What will it take to make her come around, if at all?

The first has Vic trying to access Andy’s phone to figure out why he ran from the court hearing only to come across a recording he made of his confrontation at Wilson’s field for chicken run 2.0 with all in the pub to hear including Jimmy. The second offers up reflections from Robert about Jack’s having him leave the village and how Jack chose to cover and protect Andy on multiple occasions plus his brief return for Jack’s funeral. Vignettes that tie together that begin with the lads being set up on a blind date by Vic but going extremely wrong with Aaron literally falling for Robert courtesy of running into his car door. This leads to a fake boyfriend scenario at a bar… friends with benefits… and leading to their first I love you’s. There also another alternative SSW2016 spin with the last chapter coming full circle to a happy ending. Oh, and there’s a tiny bit of alive Sarah scattered here and there.

The lads attend a house party in Manchester hosted by an ex of Aaron’s. What unsettles Robert is most of the guests are gay and had been with Aaron at one time or another. But that is just on the surface and more about Aaron is learned. The real reason for Robert’s unease very much comes down to Jack and what he’d think of his present life with Aaron, Liv and the baby Aaron has embraced.

it's finished!! this will be a baby shower gift for a a coworker I share a desk with. I wanted to put in the effort to make something nice without overworking myself by being too fussy. I'm really happy with how it turned out but I'm AMAZED I actually finished it!
