In 2026, one of my major projects will be a seven(ish) chapter crossover fic. It’ll be a Criminal Minds x Chicago PD fic where the main pairing is the reader and Charlie Reid.
They hook up in Vegas and things escalate from there with Charlie finding (less than legal) ways to keep crossing paths with the reader.
May I please request a drabble where your OC Lucy hugs Eddie from behind? Fluffy maybe??
💖 Happy Tumblr anniversary!
Eddie x Lucy Masterlist
Lucy was tired; brain numbing, feet heavy, doze off on the L-line tired.
It was a testament to her own internal clock that her body roused her right before her stop. Tech weeks were always hell, but this particular production convinced her she'd be sending actors on stage pasted into their costumes with hot glue. Everybody, including herself, had just about reached the state of "fuck it". So long as everyone was dressed and knew their lines, they'd call it a success.
All she wanted was food and sleep. The promise of a cold slice of pizza was just about the only thing keeping her moving from the stop to her apartment.
As she walked up to the landing, she made sure to skip over the last step, quieting her approach. Eddie had work in the morning and she already felt guilty for waking him when she called to let him know she was heading back. He'd even apologized to her for falling asleep, which made it worse, offering to pick her up as he usually did.
She'd assured him it was fine, plenty of the cast were heading in the same direction so she wouldn't be completely by herself. He'd sounded exhausted. Hopefully he was back in bed and she wouldn't be too far behind him.
These plans were interrupted, however, as she heard the clattering of dishes.
Stepping into the apartment, she quickly spotted Eddie standing at the sink, the dish rack filled with freshly washed pots and pans.
He was still dressed in his pajama bottoms and a loose near thread bare band shirt he couldn't bring himself to get rid off. Peering over his shoulder, he flashed her a tired smile.
"Hey sweetheart. Go ahead and get yourself a plate. I'm just cleaning up."
She stared, her eyes drifting to the pan of mac and cheese on the counter. It wasn't Kraft either. It was proper baked mac and cheese with the bread crumbs on top.
The smell hit her square in the chest. It was her mom's recipe, one of the first dishes Eddie had experimented with that didn't come out of a box. She didn't even have to taste it to know it would be perfect.
Even as her stomach turned, any thought of food went out of her brain as she beelined towards Eddie.
Her arms wrapped around his waist. Her head pressed between his shoulder blades and the only thing left for her to do was sink.
He was warm, the smells of the kitchen and a hint of cigarettes clung to his clothes. She took a deep breath in before letting a shuttering break out. She didn't even realize she'd started crying until she felt the muscles of his back straighten.
"Hey, hey, pretty girl, what's wrong?"
She shook her head, the tears coming down in full force. Everything was awful. Everything was amazing. She needed to sleep. She needed to stay awake. If she was forced to make any decision on anything she was gong to scream.
He spun in her hold, his hands still wet as he wrapped his arms around her.
She gulped in deep breaths, trying to force herself to stop. His shirt clung to her cheek. She hoped it was from the dish water and not her tears.
He didn't seem to mind, never letting go as he rubbed his hands up and down her back.
"Long day?" he asked.
She nodded.
"Did you eat anything?"
She pause, trying to think. "I had an apple."
"Just an apple?"
"And a Diet Coke."
"Yeah, that'll do it."
She buried her head deeper into his chest; a blush of embarrassment coming to her cheeks. It wasn't often she forgot to take care of herself. One of the first lessons she learned after her father died was how not to cause a scene. She learned just how long she could go without a snack before her emotions took over, how long she needed to sleep and when she needed to walk away to calm herself down.
Of course, there were days she'd slip up and the guilt at seeing how distressed her mother would become made everything worse.
But Eddie wasn't upset. She could practically hear the laughter pressed into his lips as he kissed her forehead. Her tears were not cause for alarm or shame. It was just something that happened.
"C'mon let's get you something to eat," he said, guiding her toward the kitchen table.
She let him, trusting him to take care of her. It was a sensation she was still getting used to, but in that moment it felt like the most natural thing in the world.
A/N: I really went back an forth on this one as to who is saving who. Hopefully I found a happy middle. But if you've got a preference for one shielding the other, I'm all ears! Lol
Also, this turned into something a little longer than intended. I might expand this into a whole episode at some point. Let me know what you think!

Evelyn never considered herself as the “princess in the tower” type. Even as a little girl, she knew her place to be one of protector and caretaker for both her brother and mother. And when she took up the flaming sword, it felt as if her permanent state would forever be the knight in shining armor.
She didn’t resent the cards she had been dealt. For the most part it suited her. However, her lack of damsel experience was starting to get to her, especially now when she found herself trapped in a literal tower, guarded by an honest to God dragon.
One of the hell portals had opened up in the mountains of Geneva prompting Mary Shelley to not write Frankenstein. Science fiction and all it inspired were being slowly changed in the timeline. Ray now had a PhD in Medieval Literature. Nate couldn’t steel up. Even the Waverider itself was starting to change. Gideon was so scrambled she couldn’t get the ship off the ground.
As excited as Evelyn had initially been at the prospect of both Shelley and dragons, the mission had quickly turned more treacherous than any of them anticipated.
John had mentioned dragons preferred pure souls, the shine of them being just as precious as gold, or something like that. Good news, he had been right on the money and the dragon took her as bait without a second thought. Bad news, the rest of her team had failed to defeat the dragon before it carried her off and the Flaming Sword was torn from her grip.
She paced the floor, wracking her brain for some way out. She had tried the door to no avail. It was locked from the outside and without the sword her strength was considerably lesser. The window was out. All that lay below was a hundred foot sheer drop with not even a vine to cling to. The stone was old enough she could get some purchase, but there was no way she was making it all the way down in the storm currently raging on the other side. And even if she did, she knew there was a dragon at the base ready to pick her up and put her right back where she started.
She tried to remind herself that the team wouldn’t just cut their losses and leave her. Their loyalty wasn’t conditional. She could count on them to be there for her.
It had also been nearly twenty four hours and when had she ever given them a reason to doubt her ability to save herself.
She paused in her steps, forcing a deep breath through her lungs. There was a way out. She simply needed to have faith.
Sinking to her knees, she bowed her head in prayer.
“I pray to you, our father, for guidance. You know I do not usually ask for a personal audience, but I found myself a bit stuck. The sword you bestowed upon me is gone so I must call upon you for strength.” Her throat tightened as she felt the weight of that failure. Still she prayed, her hands shaking. “I cannot climb the wall. I cannot fight the beast. I cannot do this on my own.”
She paused, holding her breath for some kind of sign.
The wind rattled against the stone walls. The roof creaked under the strain. A distant thunder clapped in the distance.
No voices came. No understanding presence or even the sensation of a hand on her shoulder. All the familiar comforts and assurances the sword gave her were gone. She was alone.
“Please,” she begged. “God, if you’re listening, show me the way out.”
“Not God, love. Just me.”
She straightened, her head whipping towards the voice.
“John?”
He smiled at her stepping into the doorway with a cocky grin on his face.
She wasn’t sure what possessed her. All she knew was she was up and across the room in the matter of seconds. She wrapped her arms around him, his body an anchor she didn’t know she needed until this exact moment.
He stumbled slightly, but he soon recovered, wrapping his arms around her to keep them steady.
“You alright, Eves?”
She nodded, feeling a flush of embarrassment on her cheeks. Still, she couldn’t bring herself to fully pull away. “Sorry, wasn’t sure anyone was coming, that's all.”
He didn’t say anything, but the way he held her just a little tighter was enough.
Evie let herself sink into him, giving herself a moment to recenter. He was so warm. His clothes smelled like laundry, smoke and home. She knew things between them were complicated. Neither of them knew what to call it, but he had come for her and in that moment, they both knew he always would.
He let out a deep sigh, pressing a kiss against her temple as they slowly pulled apart.
“C’mon. We’re getting out of here.”
He took her hand, guiding her towards the stairwell only to pause mid step.
“Oh, almost forgot.” Reaching into his jacket pocket. “Might need this.”
He extended his hand, presenting her an all too familiar hilt.
She took it and in an instant a surge of strength and light pulsed through her veins. The symphony of the heavenly bodies once again echoed through her mind. She was at once herself and yet a passing memory of history and time; a body meant to serve.
Somehow, though all of it, her eyes fell to John.
He hadn’t let go of her hand, his gaze steady.
“You ready?”
She gave his hand a squeeze of assurance.
It was enough, as he pulled her with him down the tower steps.
“Where are the others?” she asked.
“Back at the Waverider,” John explained. “Zari is still trying to get it airborne."
“Then how did you get up here?”
“Teleportation circle. Didn’t have enough materials to cast it on everyone here and back again.”
“So how did you defeat the dragon?”
“Defeats a strong word. Incapacitate more like.”
“Incapacitate?”
She got her answer as eyes found the base of the tower. There, curled in the large anti-chamber was the dragon, its eyes closed as the strums of an enchanted harp played just beside it.
John pulled her close, raising a finger to his lips. He then nodded towards the corner on the other side of the room. Sure enough, she could just spot the circle of runes on the floor.
She jerked her head in understanding. Stealth was the name of the game, but that didn’t stop her from igniting her sword, just in case.
He led her along, his attention never straying far from the slumbering beast.
Evie in turn kept her ears on the music, holding her breath for the moment it might stop.
Above the thunder grew louder, the storm coming even closer with each step.
She could just make out John’s muttering, as they crept closer. The runes of the circle began to glow as the harp played on. For just a moment, she really thought the whole thing would go without a hitch.
She really should have known better.
A crack of lighting streaked across the sky, the light nearly blinding her. The tower rumbled, shaking right down to the foundations.
One moment she was standing, the next she was on the ground with John bracing himself over her, tucking her head against his chest and debris fell all around them.
A great roar echoed over the storm.
Evie peaked around to see the dragon raising its head over the dust, its eyes going in and out of focus.
“We need to go,” she said.
John looked around just in time for the beast to snap its head in their direction, its teeth bared in a snarl.
“You don’t need to tell me twice.”
He took her hand again, pulling her to her feet before sprinting toward the still glowing circle.
She didn’t dare look back, even as she felt the heat of hellfire on her heels.
The dragon roared as it followed, its massive body causing the ground to quake just as fiercely as the storm.
Still, it needed a moment to recover for another attack. The runes floated in the air ready to be charged. John all but dove into the circle pulling Evie to him.
Nothing happened.
“Something was supposed to happen, right?” she asked.
John brows furrowed, staring confused at the runes before his eyes fell to something on the ground.
“Bollocks!” John cursed. “Damned storm!”
Sure enough, the collapsing stone had cut off part of the circle leaving the whole thing next to useless.
John was on his knees the next second, clearing what he could away as he scrambled in his pockets for the remaining spell components.
“How much time do you need?” Evie asked.
“Just a few minutes.”
As if on queue the dragon stomped one of its claws into the stone causing her knees to buckle. Its chest glowed as red as embers as it reared back, smoke pouring from its snout.
Without thinking, Evie stepped in front of John, clutching the hilt of her sword in both hands.
An inferno rushed towards them.
She stabbed the sword into the ground as an eruption of heavenly light encircled around them.
The fire rolled off the shield like waves against stone. Her arms shook. Sweat beaded down her face as she felt the heat of it.
Somewhere she heard the call of her own name.
It was then she felt it, the hands of past wielders pressed on top of hers.
Let go, they whispered. You cannot do this alone. We heard your call. Rest. We can handle this. Simply surrender yourself.
“Evie?!”
Evelyn. You know what you must do.
The sword buckled in her grip, the power of the blast pushing it back through the stone. She pressed her forehead against the hilt, her chest heaving for breath.
An answer pressed against her lips. It would be so easy to just let them free. But she didn’t get the chance as a pair of arms wrapped around her middle, pulling her back.
Spinning runes and the dark interior of a castle transforming in an instant into open sky as she landed hard on a body.
“Might have cut that one a little too close,” John groaned.
Evie shook her head, trying to pull herself up, but it was no use. The world tilted sideways and John had yet to fully let go.
“You won’t hear any argument from me,” she said. “But I’ll take just in time too late any day.”
He let out a laugh, his head falling back to the ground as they both tried to catch their breath.
“Oh thank God. Evie, you okay?”
She looked up, just in time to see Sara approach.
“Nothing broken, Captain,” she assured, pushing herself off of John.
If Sara noticed her flush of embarrassment, she didn’t mention it as she turned her attention to John.
“Constantine?”
“Well considering I just single-handedly rescued your lady in waiting from a dragon, I’m feeling just fine,” he said dryly.
Sara gave him an unpressed look as her lips pressed into a hard line.
“Well considering it was your idea in the first place, I think we’ll just call it even.”
She reached out a hand, helping Evie back to her feet.
“C’mon, Zari says she might have found a work around with Gideon.”
The same courtesy was not extended to John as she marched back the way she came, intending Evie to follow.
John took it in well enough stride, pushing himself up with a low groan.
Evie took a moment to really look at the man, as he dug around for a cigarette; messed up hair, dirty trench coat and all.
She felt herself smile. He really did look like the type of knight she’d get.
