Wednesday 20th September- Graphite

This was my second week doing live drawing. I decided to use a graphite stick rather than a pencil as I struggled last week. This was a good decision as a found it easier to handle and draw the shape of her body. I also think that by using the graphite stick, I was able to work much quicker. I preferred the pose she did this week compared to last week, and moving on to next weeks drawing I would like it if Helen would face in the opposite direction of where I am positioned so I can draw her from the back. I have taken pictures of Helen whilst she is posing from different angles so I can practice drawing these in my live drawing sketchbook, but it would be nice to draw Helen in those poses live.

Upon reflection, I have noticed some issues with body proportions. I think her breasts should have been a little lower and her arms are drawn too thin. The head was the first part I drew and it appears now to be slightly larger than the rest of her body. I tend to work with quite a small scale so in my next live drawing session I would like my drawing to be bigger. I would also like to work with yet another drawing material such as a fine liner to see how my work turns out. Whilst this piece needs some improvements, I am much happier with this piece than the one from last week.
