"General, it's the 2/12th."
The day of the 212th is over and oh my god.
I made more posts than I thought- Lol
Even with school and teachers constantly bombarding me with homework, I didn't let this day go by unnoticed, and it feels so nice to have participated in something so pretty about the 212th. ❤️🩹
Many thanks to @artralichoard for thinking of this day as the 212thday. and as I always love to say, thank you for so much and sorry for so little. (😭) The idea was amazing and all the posts were beautiful, please print more 212th days lmao 😭❤️🩹
LONG LIVE TO THE 212th! ☀️☀️☀️
That would be enough Commander Cody/Reader one shot
Yes, it's based on that Hamilton song. Happy 212th day! I wrote this one-shot as a celebration. I was going to publish a whole fanfic, but university is driving me crazy. 😭💔 Please excuse any spelling mistakes or other errors; you know I'm from Mexico, and since I did this quickly, my English and spelling might not be the best. (Btw, start playing "That would be enough" by Lin-Manuel Miranda when the first letter look like this) It's also on Ao3: link here
Summary: Cody returns from a difficult mission—in which he even fought with Obi-Wan—hoping to see you, unaware that you had a surprise waiting for him.
Cody had just returned from a campaign, one that had been the longer they ever had; he looked tired but maintained that serious and reserved facade. However, his brothers knew perfectly well what had happened. During the campaign, all the stress had caused him to end up fighting with a Shiny who had taken offense to a comment from Obi-Wan—He still hasn't gotten used to the General's sarcasm—. Anyway, Cody was back, he no longer had the stress of recovering the planet or of being a sentimental rookie, the only thing that mattered to him was getting to see you.
You were one of the few people who could offer him a little extra calm when he felt his reserves of calm were running low, whether it was because of some idiocy of Anakin's or because he was busy tearing apart clankers.
He arrived at his quarters inside the barracks; one of the few advantages of being Commander was that he could have a room with enough privacy. When he opened the door, there you were, lying down under the covers, but at the sound of the door opening you jumped awake to find Cody's silhouette approaching the bed.
—Hi—you said with a sleepy voice and the words being followed by a yawn.
The cold Commander met the end of his serious expression and furrowed brow as a smile was glued to his face and his eyes looked at you in the most loving way they could. If he was a cartoon, he would probably have hearts in his eyes.
—Sorry for waking you up.— He sat on the edge of the bed, being careful not to hurt you or anything. You shook your head and sat down on the bed. —It's okay, don't worry.—
The atmosphere between you two was loving, it always was when either of you returned. The silences were comfortable, and you both found refuge simply in each other's presence.
—It was a difficult campaign, wasn't it?—you asked. Cody sighed, nodding his head and letting his shoulders relax, because if they stayed like that for another second, they'd probably stay that way until the end of the times. —It was. Some rookie missunderstood Obi-Wan's sarcasm and his name was dragged through the mud. I mean, we had more important things to do than gossip about the General, and I got angry with the boy— Cody explained it to you, and you responded with a soft, understanding smile.
—More or less, I ended up getting scolded by Obi-Wan, and right after the campaign ended, he sent me to rest, and now I'm here.—
You laughed softly, but it wasn't mockery; it was more of a small reaction to Cody's attitude.
—It's okay... Look around, look how lucky you are to be alive right now.— You approached him and gave him a hug, you pulled away from him and instinctively placed a hand on your stomach; that's when Cody noticed the small bump on your belly.
He looked at you with wide eyes and a slight concern. —How long have you know?—
You looked at him, somewhat confused by his question, until you realized why he was asking that.—A moth or so—You said with a nervous smile. —My love, you should have told me.— Cody got out of bed, feeling worry creeping up from within him.
—I wrote to Obi-Wan a month ago.— The man suddenly turned around, looking at you as if you were crazy. — No.— You sighed and pushed the sheets aside. —I begged him to sent you home, and I'm not sorry—you defended your point as you stood up to approach him.
—I know you'll fight until the war is done.— When you were close enough, you took his hand in yours. —But you deserve a chance to meet your child.—
He pulled your hand away, went back to sit down again trying to avoid you because his mind was racing through millions of possibilities. It was dangerous that you were pregnant in the middle of a war, even worse because you were a Jedi. But there was a feeling inside him—a feeling that until that moment was certainly unknown—he felt... Insecure? What would you do with a clone who can't afford a family life? He has nothing to give you, at least that's what he thinks.
—Will you relish being a poor clone's wife unable to provide for your life?—he asked to you, finally looking into your eyes. —I relish being your wife.— You made a great emphasis when mentioning the word "your"; making it clear to him that money or status couldn't matter less to you if you were by his side.
—Look at where you are, look at were you started; the fact that you're alive is a miracle. Just stay alive, and that would be enough— You finished with a smile. You were getting closer, one step at a time. You placed a hand on your belly.—And if this child shares a fraction of your smile or a fragment of your mind...— You sat on the edge of the bed with a smile and made a movement with your open right hand, moving it from left to right as if you were pointing at the world.—Look out world! That would be enough.—
—I don't pretent to know the challenges you're facing or the worlds you keep erasing and creating in your mind; but I'm not afraid of the council discovering this, I know who I'm married. So, so long as you come home at the end of the day, that would be enough for me.— You took his hand and intertwined it with yours before letting them rest on your lap.
Cody looked into your eyes, touched by your words. His insecurity faded with each word, which felt like small bandages on his heart and soul.
—We don't need a legacy, we don't need money if i could grant you peace of mind. Let me be a part of the narrative in the story they will write someday and let this day be the first chapter, the one were you decided to stay. And I could be enough and we could be enough... That would be enough.—
He couldn't have felt luckier to have such a loving and understanding future wife as you. Especially since you believed that he, a mere clone, was enough for you and you wanted to spend your life by his side.
Cody took you in his arms, being careful as he was aware of the embryo developing inside your womb.
He promised himself he would be enough for you and your child. And you would be enough for him.
TOMORROW IS THE 212th DAY AND I'VE DONE NOTHING BECAUSE OF MY MF COLLEGE 😭💔💔💔💔
