Fawx & Stallion is so excited to be attending TAFCON 2026 this Sunday! Lauren will be there with business cards, flyers, stickers, and shirts - if you're attending, pop by our booth and say hello!
So I'm writing a presentation type thing on Sherlock Holmes and what makes it so great to adapt into other things, and I wanted to mention Fawx and Stallion in it but I wasn't sure if it was an adaptation or not. So I wanted to ask. Do you, as the creators, think that F&S is a sherlock holmes adaptation, or as a story that just happens to take place in the Sherlock Holmes universe?
(I'm really interested on the matter as Sherlock Holmes is one of my special interests, and this is my dream presentation to be doing so I just want to make sure all the facts are right, and what better way to do that then just straight up ask the creators)
This is a fun question, and one we talk about pretty often - most recently in our panel at 221B Con in Atlanta! There's a bit of a fuzzy line between pastiche and adaptation and we're somewhere on the line zigzagging back and forth. Where we've sort of landed is that season 1 (where we're in the world of Holmes but not necessarily the story of Holmes) is more of a pastiche, and season 2 (where SPOILER ALERT we are intersecting with his specific story, adapting specific beats of that story, and putting our own spin on clear moments in canon--ie, where we're showing you actual scenes from STUD at the top of 2x06) we dip over to adaptation for a bit. We sort of see ourselves as "both, which is also a secret third thing." But, as you put it, I don't think we ever saw ourselves as "a story that just happens to take place in the Sherlock Holmes universe" - we've always, in our own way, tried to be mindful about using the world and the character of Sherlock Holmes with purpose, and to tell a story that only could take place in a world with Sherlock Holmes in it, rather than any other London-based detective story. Hopefully that helps!
will Holmes and Watson be in season 3?
i'm so sorry to be the one to report this but sherlock holmes died at the reichenbach falls in 1891 so i don't see any way that could work with our chronology
Sorry if it's stated in the show, but what is the time frame of S2. At the beginning Reichenbach had just happened and by the end 22fun b is about to open. Now obviously they aren't wasting time on things like quality, but surely the construction took at least some time.
Final Problem happened in May 1891 and we imagine 22Fun opened in the Fall of the same year. We figured emotionally it had been a short enough period for things to be fresh in the public (and Watson's) mind but long enough that conceivably buildings could be built with a huge influx of investor funding and enthusiasm (and some suspension of disbelief).
THIS IS SLANDER OF THE HIGHEST DEGREE!!!! I would NEVER ! I don't care how fashionable he is or how attractive his voice is, being sexy requires more than that. It requires heart. James has no room in his for anything except his incredible greed.
We're spending the weekend going over season 3 scripts and I can't emphasize enough how close we are to actually being in a place to make this thing, which means (yay) we are drawing closer to crowdfund shenanigans. For our personal planning:
What crowdfund reward would be most interesting to you as a potential backer of F&S S3?
exclusive stickers
in-character thank you notes
audio thank-yous from characters
annotated scripts/holmes stories
access to our Patreon-only commentary tracks
invite to a backer-only early stream of the premiere with cast and crew
other physical merch options like shirts/pins
the ability to name a (small) character
option to send in audio of yourself or your pet to be used in crowd scenes
some secret tenth thing (we're open to it, tell us!)
I really hope in the next season we get to explore more of James and Madge’s dynamic
Like we’ve gotten the bromance of Hampton/James and the childhood best friends dynamic of Madge/Hampton, but just imagine the messy shit going on with the “couple” in a lavender marriage
