When you live in an apartment with five other girls, you suddenly find the small places where you can be alone quite comforting. An event that consists of this often for me is car drives. I have this every night when I drive to the gym, but today I had it for twenty minutes when I drove to a farther destination for work.
Usually I have music blaring–lately with it being Justin Biebers new hit–but this time I drove with nothing playing. I sat and had my sunroof open while listening to the wind whistle. And along the way I passed the sign to the cabin that I went to many times this summer–the cabin surrounded by pure green, the cabin where I fell in love.
And so I thought for a little while about how interesting it is that we fall in and out of love. And it reminded me of all of the good times, but also of all of the bad times. It reminded me how I’ve romanticized moments that were actually not good. I think I’m learning a little more about myself and about my relationships with people during these silent drives.
