3! 7! 8! 11!
3) What is the rarest rare pair (that you ship)?Oof. I mean, I think Jyuudai/Johann is like literally the only NOT rarepair I ship. You know what? I’m going to go with Cinna/Katniss from The Hunger Games. I’ve never seen anybody else ship it, ever.
7) A non-canon ship that should be canon? This, I think, depends on your definition of “non-canon.” Like, I have several ships where I’m about 90% sure they “would have been canon” if time and censors had allowed (sort of the situation I’ve heard Bubbline is in, over in Adventure Time fandom).
But you know what? Barring Jyuudai/Johann--which falls into the category listed above--and Cinna/Katniss--since I already answered that one, although I’d be happy to elaborate--I’m going to go with Harry/Luna, from Harry Potter. From the first, Luna treats Harry as a person. She understands his pain, she sees what he goes through as he plummets from top dog to pariah in under a year and loses the people closest to him. She empathizes, she offers comfort, she supports him in every way possible, jesus wept at any point in the last book she could have sold him out and she didn’t. Harry, meanwhile, respects her and, while he may not believe some of the stuff she says, he’s also not a sassy asshole about it. He trusts her with his life. He supports her, when he’s able.
And then you have Ginny. Ginny’s character concept was just . . . . not well-done, which is not Ginny’s fault, but you can’t set her up to be basically Lily Evans 2.0 Now With More Celebrity Worship and then get mad when people say “Harry literally had more chemistry with every female friend he had than he had with Ginny, please stop.” I honestly would have preferred an endgame with Harry/Luna and Ginny/Neville, but Jo is just apparently incapable of appropriately pairing people. (While we’re on this note: Remus should have been with Sirius, Tonks should have stayed single, Dean/Seamus should also have been canon and I will fight you if you try to argue that Jo was right about the whole shouldn’t-have-paired-Ron-with-Hermione thing.)
8) Your oldest ship; the one you’ve shipped for the longest time? This is HARD. I’ve been shipping since before I knew what it was. I think probably the very earliest I can think of I was six, and I’d just discovered there were love stories in Final Fantasy “III” (the SNES Ted Woolsey FFVI release), and I really, really, really wanted Locke and Terra to get married and kind of hated that Ceres ended up with Locke instead because hell if I know, I just really really loved Terra and Locke.
And yes, I still ship it. 22 years and counting.
11) What is a character you can only imagine in one particular ship?As the proud owner of an armada, I think Jareth from Labyrinth wins this one. Although I did once start a fic called The Five Times Jareth Loved Sarah (And One Time She Loved Him Back), featuring six different Sarahs, so I mean. Maybe not.
You know what, I’m going to go with James Norrington, from Pirates of the Caribbean, paired with Jack Sparrow. I was ride-or-die for Sparrington back in 2004, and I really can’t imagine pairing him with anyone else.
