And to be fair, it wasn’t exactly a lie. June had been obsessing over some new writing and if he was going to throw Elijah under the bus, he could do the very same. If he’s honest, their relationship wasn’t bad. They were still having a lot of sex and June still hugged him and kissed him and told him how much he cared about him so everything was fine… Yeah, maybe the sex was always rushed and rough and they never talked during it anymore; just muffled moans and broken sentences but they were still having it and that had to be a win!
“Tell you what hyung, I’ll go to bed when you decide to close your laptop and come with him.” Elijah says, cocking an eyebrow over at his boyfriend.
Upon Elijah’s response, June only laughs awkwardly and totally dismisses the fact that lately he hasn’t been the one having enough sleep — he simply hoped for the coffee to do its magic.
After getting positive feedback along with an offer of cooperation from the publisher, he’s been maniacally reading his own works until they would sound right in his head. But each time he ended up hitting Backspace on his laptop’s keyboard. Then he would write everything once again, with his eyes staring at the bright screen with such fury and some kind of undefined madness.
That made him often forget about the other person in the apartment — or persons, regarding to how Elijah could change in a fraction of a second. So only when he was heading either to the bathroom or the kitchen he could finally see something beyond the almost blinding screen. Their relationship changed quickly due to that. But could he notice it at the right time? Not really.
It wasn’t like they were visibly falling apart and falling into further depths of despair but the flame wasn’t emitting as much warmth as before.
Gazing towards his boyfriend, he momentarily turns his head towards the laptop as though there’s now a real struggle for him to face. Junhoe knows too well that choosing work Elijah would be a harsh move, probably dimming the faint fire between them even more.
But eventually he gets up, squinting his reddened eyes whilst a forced smile barely curves his lips up. “You know how important it is to me...” He whispers, gently resting his hands on the younger’s shoulders.
