Trump Weird News - Time For 25th Amendment?
Sherrod Brown is calling for Pence and the cabinet to invoke the 25th Amendment and I posted this in response on Facebook:
Given the time frame here and the seeming general consensus that even just 13 more days is dangerous, the 25th Amendment is a terribly convoluted, slow, and autocratic method to accomplish removing Trump from office.
Read section 4 for yourself, but basically Pence and a majority of the cabinet tell Congress Trump is "unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office" and Pence thus immediately assumes those powers. But Trump can then just say he is able to and takes over again unless the VP and cabinet submit again that he is incapable. At this point Congress has 21 days to take a vote and it requires a 2/3 majority in both houses to put Pence in charge.
Seems to me the more direct and quicker approach is to draft the articles of impeachment and move them through. Convene Congress today, they pass the House no doubt, and then the quickest "trial" in the Senate you've ever seen.Either way this comes down to a two-thirds vote in Congress. Talking about the 25th is just passing the buck and expecting the president's lapdog to do more than he's ever shown the inclination of being capable.
The final evidence that this man is unqualified to use soap in the shower.
Trump Bashes the Dems who think they can invoke the 25th Amendment.
