I don’t even know what to say about Dororo’s 12th episode! I wanted it to never end! So many awesome and interesting and scary things happening all at once, Hyakkimaru’s entire family all together, that Buddha statue being further broken, Daigo making an extremely poignant argument against Hyakkimaru’s existence, my favourite good boy Tahomaru sadly feeling forced to kill Hyakkimaru. And then Hyakkimaru having to cut his eye out to end the fight and go save Dororo and the other kid! This episode was such an emotional rollercoaster! I’m so upset that Tahomaru fought Hyakkimaru, but I also felt terrible for Tahomaru when his eye got slashed out, and then Hyakkimaru actually smiles, like a real proper genuinely sweet smile when he learns about his mother, but she feels so terrible about the whole ordeal that she commits seppuku so that Hyakkimaru knows she doesn’t want him to suffer alone! God, this show’s done an incredible job capturing this feeling of helplessness. And then there seems to be some ultimate big bad demon that’ll probably become relevant soon and I’m so scared about what that will entail and if Hyakkimaru will be able to fight it or if he’ll even be alive to fight it and what happens if he wins but what happens if he loses and the fruitfulness of Daigo’s land being intrinsically linked to Hyakkimaru’s person creates such a unique moral scenario because from like a Utilitarian view Hyakkimaru dying is probably the best case scenario but he’s also great and I don’t want him to die but this is fucking like feudal Japan or some shit and the many inhabitants of Daigo’s land are absolutely fucked if Hyakkimaru exists and arghhhhhhhhhhhh what an amazing show. @leafbladie I’ve thanked you for recommending this to me before but seriously thank you so much this show’s so fucking enticing and gripping and I love it. God how is anime this year so fucking good and we’re only in March.
Mob Psycho 100 will not stop doing literally everything it can to utterly terrorise me. I could very literally feel the increase in my heart rate as tears began forming in my eyes. This show is incredible.
Mad respect to Rebellion Sayaka for trying to fight Satan.
I really do need to get to watching more mahou shoujo, cause the vast majority of my experience with the genre is just Madoka Magica and post-Madoka dark magical girl shows, with the only real outliers being Flip Flappers and Kill la Kill, the latter being debatably not even a mahou shoujo.
On a loosely related note to my last post, lots of western fanart I come across likes to involve racewashing, and I’m really not a fan of that at all in any capacity. What’s especially baffling to me though is that racewashing is usually done to create more diversity and promote the idea that it’s not all white people out there, but the vast majority of fanart I reblog is of anime girls and the most common racewashing fanart I see is also of those same anime girls, but then they’re asian anyway so like, you’re turning one POC into another POC, and if racewashing wasn’t inherently racist anyway isn’t this kinda racist for erasing Japanese culture? What’s especially annoying is when it’s racewashing but it’s still cute and I like the art, so then there’s a conflict between “fun things are fun!” and my actual moral stance on, say, turning Homura Akemi into a black girl. Like yeah I’ll straight up confess to having seen fanart of Homura I honestly liked for the most part but because it turned her from a Japanese girl into a black one I didn’t want to reblog it. By the way for clarification I’m the same way for fanart that turns black characters into anything other than black - granted I rarely see fanart of black characters since not many even exist that I can think of, but if you got like SAO’s Agil or something idk and made honestly really good fanart of him that I wanted to reblog but you turned him white or asian or anything other than black I’d not reblog it because nah dude racewashing isn’t cool in any capacity.
