Well, this would be the first interspecies hurdle to cross, wouldn't it? This certainly contextualizes a lot of John and Karkat's early conversations - and makes them a lot funnier in retrospect. We didn't know it at the time, but we were watching Karkat work through a crush.
And he'll have to work through it, I think. Some humans might be able to understand a kismesissitude, but I don't think John's one of 'em. Even if he did, John doesn't hate him like that. If Karkat is going to have any luck at all, he'll need to swatch quadrants - or ditch them entirely.
