April 27, 2022 - Day 312
Enjoyed getting into this book.
WILDERNESS
Date: 27 April 2022
Duration: 73 minutes at 11:03 PM
Depth:
I am going to begin with a sketch about last night’s meditation session. My mind did not turn bright. My body did experience strong trembles towards the end of the session.
Strong trembles, I have figured, happen when the stream of energy in the spine is unable to flow into the bulbous head. The energy chooses to gather and dissipate from the upper part of spine, causing strong trembles.
My attention did visit the deepest best part of my mind which it has been given access to. In order to conduct the routine of mind exercises, I had to make do with all those moments when my attention was at a slightly shallower space of mind than its deepest best.
That’s the sketch of a description about last night’s session.
This morning, I added the words ‘Paramahansa Yogananda quote wilderness’ on Google search. Google did search and I found one relevant word press article. Here is a copy-paste from that article:
“We must reascend, just as Moses, in the spiritual wilderness of silence in which all his desires were no more, lifted his soul from body consciousness into God-consciousness through the same path by which it had descended.”
These are Paramahansa Yogananda’s words. They sound exactly like Gurudev although I am yet to source the name of Gurudev’s book where they have first appeared.
I began my search with ‘wilderness’. The word describes well my meditation from last night. It is almost as if some of the spinal energies have found a way into my head. It is giving me a sense of contentment. It is also giving me a sense of ‘fitting vastness’. The feeling is ‘Our attentions should be given access to at least this much at all times’.
From what I have read in all these years, I understand Gurudev Paramahansa Yogananda to describe two kinds of silences. One is the relative quiet that comes after working with a shallow part of mind. The other, I think, is a standalone kind of Peace. One can access Peace, having found depth of concentration to do so.
Peace allows spinal energies to reach the head. In the head, energies can be best described as ‘spiritual wilderness of silence’.
"People improve when they get external love and support. How can we hold it against them when they don't?”
