December

December, so far, has been a rewarding month. I was selected as a brand rep for one of my favorite boutiques, I got motivated again, received my first huge paycheck from Target, and Christmas shopped until my bank account dropped. Rylee Anns boutique is traveling trailer that does pop-up shows all around Bakersfield. My sister’s best friend, Rylee, owns the company and I have grown to be close with her and her mom Denay. One day in the very beginning of December I was counting the amount of clothes I had from them in my closet. It was close to thirty pieces and as soon as I told them, they made me a brand rep. As a brand rep I post pictures of myself in their clothes and take pictures of me in different outfits so they can post them on their account. In return, I receive a discount and frequent free items. This is what got me back to who I truly am. I got motivated to study everyday again, make more time for my family, and practice self-care. In the midst of practicing self care I may have developed a shopping addiction, but it’s fine, I'm fine, everythings fine. After receiving my first big paycheck I quickly got to shopping for Christmas. Christmas shopping is one of my most favorite things to do. There is something about giving presents to the people you love that just feels so right. Hiding and not revealing what I’ve boughten for the person is difficult for me. The excitement leading up to Christmas is the best part of the whole holiday. In my opinion, the actual day sucks because it means that the holiday season is over.

Assignment #6

 The speech was great and the information is quite interesting. Although Elizabeth Loftus does ramble and spend a little too much time trying to give specific details to studies and experiences, the main point of the speech is clear that memories are not always 100% accurate or true in some cases. I can attest to this since I have tried experiments similar to ones described to just witness reactions and to understand the human mind better. With having done this since I was merely a child, I found that a lot of my findings lined up with what she found through testing and research. When she spoke about how past experiences could have long term repercussions I was in immediate agreement with her statement. My experience is with my parents when they would try to change my memory on what happened or change a story when telling it in their own words. This habit formed from past experiences they had of being ignored for having boring stories and to prevent this they began to stretch the truth to make it more appealing. She builds credibility on what some would consider controversial statements of false memories by referencing different studies done by a 3rd party. I quite enjoy how she referenced a grey time in history before genetics were a factor in the finding out what really happened and relied solely on memory. This slight bit of humor is greatly received by the crowd and gives the audience time to process the mass amounts of information she is giving. She then immediately follows it up with more info while the audience is intrigued.
