There is something so dark about having generational planets at 29° degrees especially Pluto or Saturn...they're more powerful in the last phase from what I've seen. I've seen people being villainzed/critical/exhausted with these planets (Can be in other charts too like vedic for Saturn)
Neptune in the Anaretic Degree (29th Degree) -- What YOU Need to Know
On May 3, 2024, Neptune shifted into the anaretic degree of Pisces, marking a major milestone for the outer planet and us. In astrology, the anaretic degree refers to the 29th degree of any sign. This degree holds a unique significance, often regarded as a critical point of transition and culmination within a zodiacal sign. Understanding the anaretic degree requires delving into the broader context of astrological symbolism and the cyclical nature of the zodiac.
This degree—the 29th degree—has always been a degree of interest to me, as I have one of my personal planets in the degree. It is one of the “fame degrees” but I’ve always attributed a lot of my troubles, lessons, and struggles to this degree. I’ve also realized over the years just how critical this degree is in the good parts of my personality: my drive, urgency, and tenacity to DO SOMETHING. With that in mind, I’d like to dive deeper into the 29th degree in astrology, paying special attention to how it manifests in this ongoing transit of Neptune in Pisces.
Anaretic Degree Meaning in Astrology
At its core, the zodiac consists of 12 signs, each representing different archetypal energies and qualities. As the Sun traverses through each sign over the course of a year, it reaches its culmination point at the 29th degree before transitioning into the subsequent sign. This transition embodies a sense of completion, marking the end of one cycle and the beginning of another.
The term "anaretic" is derived from the Greek word "anareta," meaning "destroyer" or "bringer of necessity." In traditional astrology, the anaretic degree was often associated with challenging circumstances, indicating a sense of urgency or crisis that demanded resolution. However, modern astrologers interpret this degree more broadly, recognizing its potential for pivotal moments of growth and transformation.
When a planet occupies the anaretic degree in a birth chart or during a transit, it can amplify the sense of urgency and intensity associated with that planet’s energy. For example, if Mars is at the anaretic degree in a natal chart, it may signify a strong drive to initiate change or take decisive action in the areas of life represented by its sign and house placement.
Similarly, when considering transits or progressions involving the anaretic degree, you want to pay close attention to any planets or points that make significant aspects to that degree. These configurations can indicate key turning points or moments of reckoning, where important decisions need to be made or significant events unfold.
For instance, if a New Moon occurs at the anaretic degree of a sign, it may signal a powerful opportunity for new beginnings or the culmination of a long-term project or goal. Conversely, if a planet stations retrograde or direct at the anaretic degree, it could suggest a period of intense reflection or a profound shift in direction.
Neptune in the Anaretic (29th) Degree
Neptune is one of the outer planets in astrology and holds profound significance in shaping our collective and individual experiences. Often referred to as the planet of dreams, illusions, and spirituality, Neptune represents the realm of the subconscious, imagination, and transcendence. It influences our perceptions, ideals, and capacity for empathy, blurring the boundaries between reality and illusion.
Pisces, as the twelfth and final sign of the zodiac, is associated with themes of spirituality, compassion, and transcendence. Symbolized by the Fish, Pisces embodies the collective unconscious and the journey towards spiritual enlightenment and unity with the divine.
When Neptune is in Pisces, its influence is heightened, as the planet is in its natural ruling sign. This placement accentuates the mystical and ethereal qualities associated with Neptune, amplifying its influence on both a personal and collective level. Neptune in Pisces fosters a heightened sense of spirituality, creativity, and sensitivity, inspiring us to explore deeper realms of consciousness (as well as our collective obsession with idealized beauty standards) and connect with the divine.

An urgent call for healing, compassion, and clarity
virgos and scorpios and capricorns - this one is mostly for you. libras and aquarians a little bit too.
don't freak out, trines are always ultimately for the good of all. but nothing with pluto is easy, especially not when pluto is retrograde and at a critical degree. pluto just backed into capricorn, and ceres is just about to head into libra. something is getting torn down so it can be rebuilt, better, healthier. right.
but the teardown means moving on from something that was probably loved, or, at least, was comfortable.
this mostly applies on a social scale; something is about to happen globally. but for these signs it is personal too.
for virgoans, ceres is very, very strong here. pluto is strong always. but these energies are not friends. this is the negotiation between hades and demeter where a compromise is reached about persephone. are you the queen of the underworld yet?
What could a Taurus stellium in the third house (Venus, Saturn, Jupiter, sun, mercury- all conjunct) squaring Uranus in the 12th house, Gemini Mars in the 4th, followed by cancer moon in the 5th house at 29 degrees? Pluto sits on my mid heaven and 1st, 4th, and 7th house including moon are at 29 degrees. Thanks 🥺🦋💗💗
Hi hi🥺👉🏻👈🏻 oof this is a lot to unpack but I will try to talk about it and hope it'll make sense✨
Having sun, mercury, and venus all in Taurus in the 3rd house makes me feel like you're a very creative and artistic individual. These three placements here would give you a great ability to communicate and express yourself in an eloquent way, both in speech as well and in writing. I could even see you having a talent for writing or teaching/lecturing. Venus here, however, also gives you an innate sense for taste and design, so I wouldn't be surprised if you've got artistic interests! Jupiter here expands, so you might enjoy keeping busy with a variety of interests. Especially since the third house is all about communication and Taurus is ruled by venus and therefore artistic, I could totally imagine you as a writer. Furthermore, Jupiter here gives you an optimistic outlook on life and would make you want to know and learn more about the topics you're interested in. You might even take short trips or travel to learn more, especially with venus and Jupiter here, your social life may include taking short trips and they might be very beneficial to you (you may even find love through travelling). Saturn on the other hand will give you a serious mind and you'd probably want to put the things you learn to good use. However, Saturn's serious and contemplative energy in a slow-moving sign like Taurus might make you susceptible to procrastination - not because of laziness though, it's just that you prefer to wait to make the right decision as Saturn makes you more conscientious and persevering.
The square between the Taurus stellium and Uranus in 12th might symbolize an inner conflict between independence and responsibility. However, this tension can also be the root of creative brilliance, and this Uranus placement makes you more intuitive, maybe even psychic. The squares to the sun and mercury make you more complex, intelligent, and independent - you might have a bit of a rebellious spirit or may even consider yourself "weird" (I don't mean this in a negative way, I always refer to myself as weird, so I'm not putting a negative connotation to that word). You might have a provocative mind and a different way of thinking and communicating - you might be very innovative and original in your speech/writing, so if that's something you're interested in, I could see you doing something totally new and in a "never seen before" type of way. The square to venus might bring about an interesting or even uncommon love life due to a strong need for personal independence. It also bestows upon you great creativity and imagination, personal charm, and a stunning beauty!
Overall, when looking at such an emphasis on Taurus energy and also including Gemini mars in the 4th and Cancer moon in 5th, I could see a conflict between wanting to be independent and being a bit of a homebody. Mars in 4th can give you a great desire to own your own home (might also be due to the fact that Mars in 4th points towards a difficult upbringing), so that you can live independently, whereas moon in the 5th makes you someone who tends to follow their heart over their head in matters of romance and love, especially with that Taurus stellium, you might seek out and enjoy the pleasures in life - enjoying to "wine & dine" and appreciating the finer things, so to say.
Pluto on the Midheaven actually makes it your most elevated planet! This placement means you'd have considerable power and that your "calling" may involve matters of the 8th house (sexuality, death, transformation, secrets, the occult).
And having your 1st, 4th, and 7th house all at 29° might signify a struggle with decision-making and jumping into situations blindly in regards to the matters of said houses. Maybe you have an ambivalent sense of self (1st house) - your self-esteem might be higher one day and lower another or you tend to contemplate your own personality a lot and weigh the pros and cons. With the 4th house being all about someone's roots and home, you might do a lot of considering and reconsidering when it comes to moving away from home or moving homes, and then suddenly you might impulsively decide to move into a new place. With the 7th house being about partnerships, this energy of the 29th degree may manifest itself in a careful evaluation of the people you let into your own life (especially romantic partners) and maybe you tend to be quite indecisive when it comes to committing to a relationship or not, but then suddenly you jump head first into it. I'm not sure whether that resonates, I've only read about the 29th degree for planetary placements so far but I could imagine the same effect happening with the houses as well.
I'm not really sure whether I could interpret this the right way but ahhh I hope it helped or gave you some sort of insight🥺👉🏻👈🏻💖💖
hi! the 29th degree is considered an anaretic or critical degree and brings a sense of urgency to the planet. it is also something we have mastered in this lifetime and in a way come to teach it to others. in the case of saturn, this can indicate:
🔹being responsible and mature from a young age
🔹understanding the need for structure and rules, hard work and restriction in order to blossom
🔹taking on a role of mentorship with others, wanting to teach and guide them
🔹having a rough or lacking childhood- feeling too much pressure from a young age, having an unstable household, abusive family, growing up poor etc
🔹feeling more mature than others, finding it hard to fit in
🔹at times being overly serious and pessimistic, always expecting things to go wrong
🔹being one to always keep their promises, the reliable friend
🔹having a problem with authority figures
of course, not all will apply at once (most likely) but this is the general premise of this placement. hope this helped! 🧡
Hey love! I have a question so I just started reading into reading degrees . The thing is 29° is just confusing me a lot. Do u know anything about it? Also i have my leo venus at 29° so i was trying to find out more about it but really am stuck rn. Hope you have a lovely day!!
the 29th degree is a lethal degree, its like the placement is giving its final breath and just letting it all out. chaotic but fun?? opposite to the zero degree, both degrees are sending out a burst of energy as if a star has collapsed in on itself but the zero degree is a bit more chill whereas the 29th degree causes turmoil in the chart and in transits. and this isnt bad, i just find planets at the 29th degree need to be matured & worked on & paid attention to. planets at the critical degrees of 0 and 29 are gonna show out in the chart cause they just have so much potential and energy.
Hii so I was wondering I have venus (in 1st house) in leo but in 29 degree. What do you think of this placement? İs it bad because of the anaretic degree? Thank you very much❤️
Hi love that’s for the ask! I am still in the early stages of learning about degree theory but what I do know is that the degree in itself is not inherently bad. There are two common interpretations
1.) This degree signals that whatever planet that has this degree. there may be anxiety and indecisiveness or general hardship surrounding decision making where that energy manifests. For example Saturn at the 29th° may struggle to feel like they’re doing enough or if there life is passing by. Or someone with mercury at the 29th° may struggle to know when to speak and take space and when to hold back and let others speak. This degree really just signals that the area where it’s placed is going to be an important part of your journey in this life.
Another example take mars at the 29 degree in the sixth house; this placement may indicate that the individual struggles to know when they should assert themselves and when they should pull back.
2.) interpretation of the 29th°; you’ve mastered something. For example if you have the 29th° in mercury that means all of your past lives leading up to this one have led to you mastering communication and that communication will play a big role in your life.
All in all the 29th° is a degree that signals the culmination of a something and really is something to be thankful for rather than scared of. Look where’s the degrees placed (sign and house) and you may find yourself a new hidden talent.
