My Animated Short got selected to be screened at the Berlin Independent Film Festival 2023!
Tickets are available here (2nd SHORTS Block on Friday FEb 17,23) Carry On [GER: Ausgeliefert] was a film I made as part of my MA Degree over the course of 2 1/2 years. The core idea is much older and originates in 2016 when I made my very first animatic for my BA, back then, it was a very different story, but the core theme (loneliness and isolation) have stayed the same. I have struggled over the past year how to continue with the existence of this film, that - far from perfect, I was unable to continue polishing post-degree. Sometimes you pour your soul and energy into a long project, but once it's finished, you don't actually want it to be seen. It suddenly feels inadequate and as if it does not live up to the quality you set for yourself. With the very severe subjects of Domestic Violence and Abuse, Divorce, Depression and Trauma on hand, in the end I felt as if I could never do justice by these very important topics that need to be discussed and combatted. However: Watching Belle by Mamoru Hosoda last year, left me furious at how this feature balanced its themes. So I ended up submitting my film to festivals. And I don't know as of yet, if it will be shown anywhere else. But I am thrilled to know I made it at least into one of them!
