Well, if Hamilton can make Alexander Hamilton cool, I can definitely do that with Ada Lovelace. Or that’s what I told myself last spring. Now, a year later, I have written my own musical theater piece on a too often forgotten historical figure. I wrote this concept album for my senior capstone about Ada Lovelace, a complex and fascinating women who was the world’s first computer programmer - in the 1800s! I combined my own musical style with Romanticism, mixed quotes from Ada’s letters into my lyrics (thank you archivists!), and basically now could talk for hours about her life (and will if you don’t stop me). I hope you guys check this out and start to fall in love with Ada like I have.
